What can periodic breathing indicate aside from heart failure? And could it be a false positive, what could cause a false positive?
I have it at 2-3% over a period of months. My sleep study did not indicate cheney stokes or central apnea. Is a single sleep study conclusive?
Please tell me what to post from oscar. so you can take a look at it. Daily view? Of what? How many days?

Re: Periodic breathing
Hi Ander35,
The periodic breathing that shows up from time to time when the data from current XPAP machines is processed is a long way from clinical heart failure. And even that is viewed by cardiologists as having four stages.
If I ever got the chance, I would ask the manufacturers why they include PR in what their machines report. Did they decide to give that data simply because they can? And do clinicians ever use that data as a cue to do a work-up?
I doubt that they do.
If I ever have concerns about my heart, there is a simple, everyday, no-cost test which doctors use. Can I climb two flights of stairs (of 16 steps) and still be capable of holding a conversation at the top of them? If I can, then I'm fine.
