I'm 74 years old. Nine years ago I was diagnosed at a sleep lab as having idiopathic central sleep apnea. The first two years, I had 4 different sleep labs along with 3 different sleep therapists, trying to determine good pressure settings for the ASV Bipap machine I was using. I'm on my 2nd ASV bipap machine now, it is a Respironics System One. Over the past 9 years, I've had 6 sleep therapists trying to determine pressure settings that would alleviate awakenings in the wee hours of the night due to Hypopneas, Central and obstructive apneas and periodic breathing events. Nothing seemed to resolve my awakenings. One sleep therapist even said I was a 'conundrum'.
Three and a half years ago, I started wearing a neck brace which seemed to help my sleep. I usually awaken between the hours of 3:30 and 4:30 am and most of the time I'm not able to fall back asleep. The OSCAR program shows the ASV bipap increasing pressure during the awakening events. My current settings on the bipap are: Max Pressure 25.0, EPAP MIN/MAX 9.0/15.0, PS MIN/MAX 6.0-15.0, auto BPM.
With this info does anyone in this forum see anything that I might try? I've kind of lost faith in my present and past sleep therapists. Thank you so much for taking time for my sleep problems.
