Preliminary settings-Transferring from Dreamstation to Airsense 10 Auto

Post by Surfbear » Tue Mar 09, 2021 5:06 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm currently using a Dreamstation (4 years old) and decided to test out an Airsense 10 Auto
as a backup machine and possible replacement machine. My Dreamstation has been an awesome
machine!

So I'm currently using the following settings on my Dreamstation (and achieving AHI of under 1 this entire week)!
Last night these were my stats.
Max Pressure 11.0
90% Pressure 10.6 last night
Average Pressure 9.4
Minimum Pressure 9.0
Ramp time 30 min
Ramp start pressure 8

Anybody have any recommendations for how these initial settings would transfer over
and be applied to my Airsense 10 Auto? I plan on using the EPR setting at 3cmH2o.

I know how to make the changes in the Settings, wondering if the numbers might vary
from one brand of machine to the other.

Thanks for all the helpful info being shared in this forum!

I would use the same settings you are currently using.

Max Pressure 11.0
Minimum Pressure 9.0
Ramp time 30 min
Ramp start pressure 8

I agree...If it's working for you, why change it? If anything, I would turn off the ramp. Taking 30 minutes to go from 8 to 9 is ridiculous.

same-same.

there IS a bit of difference in the algorithm, but it might not present itself.

if things need adjusting, you'll know after your first coupla nights.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

When I went from Respironics auto adjusting to ResMed auto adjusting I found I didn't need quite the same amount of pressure with the ResMed to get essentially the same or better results. The ResMed auto adjusting algorithm is a bit different so the response time is different.

I think the proposed settings are a good place to start especially since you are now adding in more exhale relief.

Gotta start somewhere and what you were using with EPR added in is as good of a place as any to start.

I transitioned from a PRS1 with the same settings to ResMed Auto and thought it would take some adjustment. It did not. A very comfortable transition and I like the algorithm in the ResMed 1000 times better. A very good experience.
