Mask with cochlear implant

Post by Susie3282 » Fri Mar 05, 2021 10:16 pm

What mask do those of you who have a cochlear implant use? I don't have my implant yet, but I want to be ready for it. Right now I use a ResMed Quattro full face mask. Are there any masks with headgear that would not interfere with a cochlear implant?

Not a user, but I looked online about night practice with the implant.
My understanding is that the external components are removed at night
to protect them from damage and to charge batteries.
Your cpap headgear should not be an issue, after healing.
Some hearing aid conditioners are designed to be used with a cochlear implant.
Congratulations. This is amazing technology.

Thanks. I couldn't find anything on the internet, just saw pics of the device right where the straps would be.

If the external part is removed at night, how could it interfere with your headgear?
If you leave it on at night, it could get broken.
The implant is beneath the skin and hair, and is not removed.

Don't have it yet, so I didn't know what would be left on at night.

You really need to speak to your audiology team.
They should never expect you to undergo this procedure with NO advance information.
Are they afraid you will chicken out and they will lose all that lovely money?
Get in their faces--and demand information.
You may also need some rehab after the device has been installed.
Take advantage of any therapy you can get.

Excellent advice! Do your own thorough research before consenting to any medical procedure.

Now that I think of it, maybe you should look for a different surgeon.
This one sounds like somebody I would have trouble trusting.
Like: "Wham, bam, thank you ma'am."
