Airsense 10 Auto noise level
Airsense 10 Auto noise level
I'm currently testing an Airsense 10 Auto machine to replace a 4 year old
Dreamstation. It has a lot of nice features but starts producing a higher
pitched noise at times after it's been on for a while.
I set a phone next to my machine during 'normal' breathing sound operation. Is this pretty normal (youtube sound file uploaded..)?

My old dreamstation is definitely quieter. I was looking to step into a new Airsense 10 Auto machine after seeing a lot of positive reviews, but am debating the switch now.

Ensure the humidifier is seated all the way in.
An improperly seated tank can really get noisey.
Ive used 4 different AirSence/AirCurve 10s, all silent.

Thanks for the reply and sharing your insights. I'm pretty certain the water container is properly seeded. I'll double check.
I'm currently renting a machine to test it out. Maybe it had previous issues.
Ive been leary of buying a new one online in case it didn't work out, but maybe that's what I need to do.

Re: Airsense 10 Auto noise level
Ohh this is exactly the noise of my husband's machine. Every inhalation is heard. It sounds as though the noise is coming from the machine itself near where the hose connects to it. Did you work out what the problem was? Thankyou

Re: Airsense 10 Auto noise level
The Airsense 10 Autoset is extremely quiet when working properly.
My unit is virtually silent. The only noises that occasionally happen is when my mask gets dislodged a bit, and a very soft air coming from the mask vent.
I think you will find that this is one of the most popular units, and that most of the forum members will concur that unless there is a malfunction, the unit is as quiet as they come.
Chances are the rental unit may have some issues.
One other point... the Philps Dream Station is considered to be pretty quiet, but the Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset tests a bit quieter, and I think you will find that to be the general consensus from users on this forum.

Re: Airsense 10 Auto noise level
The noise from the OP's CPAP sounded pretty normal to me, hard to tell how high the volume actually would be for them, though. I'm very sensitive to noise, and am a light sleeper so I use ear plugs to shut out the noise. With earplugs I only hear my own breathing, which is rhythmic and doesn't keep me awake. The worst of it though was when a louder whine with my breathing started with the original AirSense that I had, and ResMed replaced that one. However, I've never had a "silent" or "whisper quiet" or "extremely quiet" CPAP...but like I said, I'm very sensitive to noise at night.
I've put my CPAP on a lower shelf in a bedside bookcase so that the noise from the CPAP is largely blocked by the mattress for my wife. The only thing that she hears are the occasional gurgling noises that I've been told that I make in my sleep sometimes *smile*.

Re: Airsense 10 Auto noise level
I just started CPAP 4 days ago with a new Airsense 10, and it sounds a lot like that with the noise on the exhale. It's right next to my bed and keeps me from sleeping. It also makes a short lived (few seconds), high pitched squeal or sucking sound two or three times a night that's much louder. I guess I got a dud.
Re: Airsense 10 Auto noise level
I've got an Airsense 10 autoset. It's usually pretty quiet. The last humidifier tank I had didn't sit very well, and it would often "wheeze". I'd have to jam it in pretty hard to prevent that.
I got a new tank recently, and it's back to very quiet. I'm guessing that the noisy tank was just not a good one (poor seal).
