Hello All
I decided to lower EPR from 3 to 1 figuring it would help with excessive CO2 intake take which may be affecting my heart rhythm (AFIB), now I've noticed that Hypopnea's have really ruled. I also changed my min and max pressures from 12-16 to 10-14.
Anyone care to comment?
Thanks

Re: Hypopnea Increased after lowering EPR?
Why do you think you're inhaling CO2 instead of it;s going out of the vents?
And do you kmow that back sleeping causes more events like hypops?

Blood test results indicated higher than normal levels CO2

Re: Hypopnea Increased after lowering EPR?
The lowering of the minimum to 10 from 12 is likely the cause of the slight increase in hyponeas.
Could also simply be a normal nightly variance.

Re: Hypopnea Increased after lowering EPR?
Do you suppose I should return to my previous pressures?

Re: Hypopnea Increased after lowering EPR?
If it were me I would continue with current new settings for a week or so and see if any trends or patterns develop.
I don't ever change anything based on one night's results.
The slight increase right now...still well within acceptable range and it very well could just be normal nightly variance.
I had a night last summer where my AHI was 9.4...normally it runs around 1.0 or a little less. It was just an off night fluke.
Don't forget to factor in how you sleep or feel into your choice.

Re: Hypopnea Increased after lowering EPR?
Higher EPR blows off more CO2 though, because it mimics bi-level pressure support. Did your doctor mention and discuss your CO2 levels with you? Or did you just look at the results yourself. Need some more information here.

Re: Hypopnea Increased after lowering EPR?
As raisedfist says, higher EPR will tend to wash out more CO2.
I'm curious: when you lowered your EPR, did your flow limitations increase?
In any event, Pugsy has the best advice for you. Give the experiment a fair run for its money before you try to assess the results.
