My first night using Oscar!
My first night using Oscar!
I wake up a lot and I don't know why. Downloaded oscar to help. I sleep primarily on my stomach with one leg hitched up. Never been a back sleeper.

I think you want to increase you max pressure. your max pressure is 13 and you hit 13 multiple times and it would not go up higher.
Re: My first night using Oscar!
I raised my max pressure to 15. Is that enough?

Your flow limits are what I notice. High at times. Notice any congestion at those times? Wake up at those times?
Change in humidity where you are sleeping?
Maybe adjust your humidity.

Re: My first night using Oscar!
A couple of thoughts.
Try EPR of 3, which might help with the flow limitations. Some people aren't bothered by FLs; others find that they contribute to less-than-optimal sleep.
Your pressures are being driven up by the FLs, and in general, high pressures don't do a lot to reduce FLs. Still, it would be a useful experiment to see what happens if you uncork the machine and set the max to 20. But my guess is that you'll want to cap it again.
I do think it might help you avoid some OAs if you raise your minimum, especially if you're increasing the EPR. No need to jump in with anything dramatic, but how about a minimum of 9 for now? This might also reduce the extent to which you experience pressure changes, which can be somewhat disruptive for some people.
It's pretty common to wake up after periods of REM sleep, and those may occur something like five times a night. Do you wake up more often than that?
Finally, your FLs are somewhat clustered, which makes me wonder whether you are tucking your chin down toward your chest. That can slightly constrict the airway, making FLs and other obstructions more bothersome. Some people have success in addressing chin-tucks by using a lower, firmer pillow; others benefit from wearing a soft cervical collar at night.

Re: My first night using Oscar!
I usually run with humidity on about 4 or 5 but I had it off due to no distilled water. Its also hard to find at the moment here in Texas for some reason. Anyway, I changed my lower pressure to 9 and my EPR to 3.
Im not really sure how much I wake up at night, Im just ready to go to bed everyday at around 5 or 6 o'clock but I force myself to stay up later.
Oh, I need to change my top pressure too, duh!
Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

Re: My first night using Oscar!
you can use tap water. just be sure to clean out the tank in a day or two or until distilled water comes back to the shelves.
distilled water is more of a convenience than a necessity.
(now watch the thread get derailed by distilled vs tap water wars!)

Re: My first night using Oscar!
You can use tap water or bottled water when no distilled is available. Won't hurt anything.
If you end up using tap or bottled water for a prolonged period of time you might see a bit of white looking mineral build up inside the water chamber but it is easily removed with some vinegar or lemon juice or similar cleaner.
I have done it lots of times when I ran out of distilled and forgot to buy more...or it was unavailable (when pandemic first hit)...no big deal.

Re: My first night using Oscar!
This is exactly why I (and others) like to share that using distilled is *NOT* a medical necessity, but a cleaning convenience.
Any discomfort you experienced, by not using humidity was needless.
The important thing to realize is:
- If your tap water is safe enough to drink, it's safe enough to put in your humidifier.
- Keep using CPAP.
