Puffy face in AM - help?
Hello all,
I use the Amara view and when I awake in the AM, my upper cheeks and especially my undereyes are puffy. This lasts for perhaps a few hours.
I am otherwise pleased with this mask, though I feel the need to strap it on fairly tight so that it stays put. I am a side sleeper and move around a bit through the night.
Is there a mask that doesn’t create this puffiness side effect? Need one that allows me to breath through my mouth. Thanks.

One can't wear a rubber band on one's head for eight hours, and not leave a mark for a few hours.
Bleep mask has no straps, but it is nose only.
Someone else may beg to differ.

Puffiness and bags happen because the fluids in the skin can't disperse normally because of the constriction mainly from the straps.
You might add some strap padding and see if it helps. I know I used to get dents and baggy eyes from the straps on my nasal pillow masks and strap covers did help quite a bit.
Padacheek makes some nice ones or if you are handy you can make some out of fleece.

I've used eight different FFMs, and the Amara View has been the least likely to cause puffiness. Sorry, that's no help to you. Try watching three or four videos on youtube about sizing and adjusting the Amara View. You might be able to adjust it differently and reduce the problem.PDXDiamond wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 11:50 pmIs there a mask that doesn’t create this puffiness side effect?

Re: Puffy face in AM - help?
I have had this problem with all of the masks I tried, never have it when sleeping without cpap. The last month I've been doing acupressure on my face before getting out of bed, or later while lying down if I forgot. It has made a world of difference. There is information online for acupressure face. I do the lower eye area spot right at the socket bone, under the pupil, then the spot below it on the cheek next to the nose flare, both sides at the same time, one minute. Very easy. There are other spots also for the face. If your puffiness is beyond the eyes you could add more spots. My eye puffiness is not medical, it seems to be that the straps stop the fluid from draining properly. It had been bad enough to be grateful for the covid mask hiding it, much better now. Hope this helps.
