A.H.I. Encore Question

Post by GoodGuy » Thu Jan 04, 2007 5:58 pm

If there are zero Non Responsive events in the data over the night ,why is it important that the A.H.I. still be as low as possible (under 5.0) ?

Because even if an apenea/hypopnea responds to treatment, it was still an apnea/hypopnea. It causes an arousal and all the related stuff we're trying to avoid by treating sleep apnea.

Remember though that AHI <5 is normal, so you don't need to get crazy about the numbers.

True, but at AHI over 3, prolonged for a few days, my body can tell the difference. Jim

Thanks for the responses. I've been running 1.0- 3.0 which is vastly improved since I first started on CPAP 4 months ago. I believe it will improve further.
