A Simple Problem With Oscar And Hoping I Am Simply Doing Something Wrong.

Post by ezsleeper » Mon Jan 18, 2021 12:46 pm

Hi Folks,

I have been using Sleepyhead for approximately 4 years without issue. Four days ago, I downloaded OSCAR and used two SD cards worth of data, all without issue and showing up in the the reports and all was up to date without incident.

Since then, the last three days, I go to download my previous night's results from the SD card and I have to wait 24 hours to download the same day again before it is accepted in OSCAR daily reports. I am 24 hours behind in reports I am able to view. It shows two reports were received yet only one is revealed in the daily report (the previous days). I am still using Sleepy Head and still downloading daily results without issue.

Any ideas for what I am doing wrong or a setting that may need to be changed?

Which version of OSCAR did you get?
How many times during the day to you download? At what time(s)?

Oscar Version, 1.2.0

I download once, each morning, approximately between 7:30am - 8:00am est.

Hmmm...wait for BlueDragon to drop by. I seem to remember this problem being reported before but unfortunately I don't remember the fix.

Might also be helpful if he knew the operating system on your computer.

Check what Blue Dragon said in this thread. Don't know if it will help or not but worth trying and it's easy.

Yes, Pugsy, success!!! That was EXACTLY the fix called for! I know this was a small issue but these kinds of annoyances just get underneath my skin. :) As per always, this is THE board to go to for so many thoughtful people with real answers.

Thanks again, Pugsy and to the rest of the experts here who have enlightened and answered so many issues for "this lurker" over the years.

I actually did try to research this in the search function and will endeavor to do better the next time.

Don't worry about it. The search function sucks unless you know exactly what to look for and in this situation I didn't use it.
What I did was go back and read some of Blue Dragon's old posts because I knew he posted something for a similar problem not long ago. I couldn't remember exact details but I knew he posted something...so I looked in his posts. I didn't even try the forum search function.
I avoid it like the plague.

I had no idea if your problem was the same or not but the fix was easy enough to try and sometimes easy works.

If you had been using the older version of OSCAR....would have suggested the newer version.

Glad Pugsy got the answer for you; I was out of the house for a while today.

This problem will be fixed in the next version of OSCAR. Version 1.2.0 was too aggressive in trying to avoid corrupt data; that's been fixed. Meanwhile, the workaround is easy.

I am new to cpap and never used OSCAR. My loaner resmed does not have a sd card so I inserted one. I somehow thought that the OSCAR will pick up my data but then realized it never asked for my resmed serial number so how would it? Then I found info about loading daily data into Oscar, but my pc does not have a sd card reader. So, am I right to assume ill need to get a portable sd card reader if I want to use Oscar?

Yes, you are correct. You will need an SD card reader for your computer.

Also, the SD card you use should be between 2 Gb and 32 GB in size, not larger. Larger ones are not formatted in a way the CPAP machine recognizes.

Thank you and good to know about the sd card limitations, I had a spare 64 gb, guess that won't work 😊

You could re-partition the card leaving just a 32 GB partition, and then format that partition as FAT-32. But you don't need a large card for use with a CPAP machine. 8 GB is usually sufficient. It's strange that the larger cards may actually be less expensive than smaller ones -- supply and demand does funny things to prices!

Thanks, I did manage to find a 16gb card in my old camera, so used it. Also, got a sd card reader and got the OSCAR going. Will have to now figure out the data and reports I am seeing,

Also, locked the card while data transfer and unlocked it while inserting back in the resmed
