Any tips for comfort settings?

Post by dbebz » Wed Dec 16, 2020 3:19 pm

Hello everyone. So I started my CPAP journey in the end of summer. I went from pretty much having constant insomnia to finally being able to regularly sleep.

I noticed that since I gained about 10 lbs, I had a slightly more elevated AHI. It was about 3-4, mostly obstructive apnea. I was on setting 10-14 but noticed sometimes it would max out so I made it 10-15. I have EPR set full time 3, and some humidity going as well.

I noticed I’d repeatedly wake up and sometimes take the mask off in my sleep. But last night I switched response from standard to comfort. Last night I probably had one of the best nights on CPAP. I slept a solid 6 hours and 45 minutes and woke up with tons of energy and feeling great.

Is there any tips on settings that I should be aware of? I’m not sure what the ‘comfort’ mode is but it seems to have helped. If you guys can give me tips on what I should look for and stuff like that to make sure I actually stay asleep that would be great. But so far; yesterday seems to have been a success with an AHI 1.9 and finally a good nights sleep.

AutoSet Response mode

ResMed’s AutoSet algorithm now allows for additional customisation of therapy with the new AutoSet Response mode, which offers all the benefits of the enhanced AutoSet algorithm with gentler pressure increases for additional comfort.

For patients who are sensitive to faster changes in pressure during therapy, AutoSet Response can be set to either Standard or Soft. If set to soft, patients will receive gentler pressure rises during therapy.

My favorite setting. :D

Honestly I was wondering why I kept waking up repeatedly throughout the night. Maybe it was the standard/soft issue. I’ll see how it goes the next few days
