Mole Skin

Post by bwexler » Sun Dec 13, 2020 6:26 pm

Some one suggested that I use Mole Skin to prevent my Dream Wisp mask from rubbing a hole in the bridge if my nose.
I liked the idea so I went to Walmart and bought some.
It has adhesive in one side.
Which side is supposed to go on my nose, the sticky side or the soft side?

If anyone needs more dumb questions I am sure I can come up with some,

Also a big mole skin fan. When I'm too stuffed up for nasal pillows and need a FFM, I use a strip of mole skin over the bridge of my nose to keep the FFM from leaking into my eyes.

soft side.
So does that mean I stick the sticky side on the mask, semi permanent?

You would rather have it a bit difficult to remove from the mask than from your skin....especially if your skin is what I call "paper skin" and easily damaged.
So it sort of depends on how fragile your skin is.
Moleskin adhesive is pretty darn tough...I don't know that I would use it on my nose and I use the Bleep adhesive without problems because I don't have paper skin. I have used it on a callous on the foot and it's a bitch to get off not to mention the residue that gets left.
I would rather have it on the mask than tear a hole in my skin.

When I used it, I placed the adhesive side against my skin. My skin is rather oily which made it easy to remove it in the morning. All you can do is try and see which way works for you. The therapist I worked with when I first started treatment said her husband used on his nose every night. That is where I got the idea to use it. I never tried to stick it on the mask cushion because I didn't think it would stick to the silicone.

I stuck it on my nose a couple times.
I don't have paper skin. But this stuff does not come off easily.
On the Dream Wisp which was giving me the problem in the first place, there is
no real surface area to stick the moleskin to.
So am having difficulty trying to decide which is worse, the Mask or the MoleSkin.

It gets expensive, but they sell blister bandaids for heels and fingers. They have a little gel filled pad and they are small. Because they are bandaids, they are meant to stick to skin and then (mostly) come off cleanly. You might try that on just the right spot on your nose and see if it helps. Stick the blister bandaid to your nose.

If that doesn't help, it might be time to consider a mask that doesn't put pressure there. Have you tried something like the Dream Wear mask--it sits under the nose and there is no pressure on the nose at all.

I have tried some masks that touch my nostrils and my nose was sore for the entire six months I used them.
I even have a brand new one 9 years old that I never even opened the package even though it was one of my favorite masks.
So no I will not try any mask that touches my nostrils.
I have used all of the Sleepweaver masks and I like the 3D that I currently use. But occasionally my 3D decides to leak.
Once the leaks begin I can't tame them, so I switch to another mask for a while and then go back.
