Resmed N30i headgear

Post by Hirsch2k » Sat Dec 12, 2020 9:10 am

Hello,

I have a problem with my Resmed N30i. It does not stay on my head. The headgear slips off easily during sleep and in the mornings I find the mask somewhere, but not on my head!

I would really like to keep the mask since otherwise it is perfect, but the headgear renders it basically unusable to me.

Is there a solution to this or another pillow mask I could try?

Thanks!

Is there a possibility that the headgear is to large for you?
I used that mask a while ago and had similar problems and the small size fixed the problem.

Are you using the standard frame or the small frame?
Did you even know there was a difference?

Thanks, do you mean the frame or the headgear? I am using the Standard frame, and I am not aware that there is a smaller headgear per se (that is the blue ribbon thing with the straps). I think there is a smaller frame, but the frame sits quite snug.

I feel like the frame sits quite comfortably and I only have to adjust the straps to about half tight. It is just the single strap is not enough to secure the mask on my head.

I should also clarify that I am using the cushion not the pillow with the frame.

The standard frame, yes I was aware. I feel like I am using the mask correctly judging by the instructions that Resmed give you. It seems to me that the frame itself isn´t able to clamp enough to stay on the head itself without the headgear, but if I tighten the straps of the headgear more it sits better, but gets to tight around the nose.

Do you think I should give the small frame a try?

This part is a one size fits all but it can stretch out after a period of time to the point you can't get it tight enough.
How long have you had this part? Maybe you just need a new one???

I don't know of any way to shorten it beyond the adjustments available at the sides.

Exactly that´s it. I had the problems right from the beginning and my mask is now 3 months old, but I switched back to my old nasal mask in the meantime because I just couldn´t use the N30i.

I think the problem is that it is a one strap design, instead of the two straps in a N20 for example. I wonder if there are cushion masks with a similar headgear design to the N20?

Philips a head-strap with arms for their DreamWear to prevent / reduce sliding.

The "with arms" strap can be bought separately, and also fits the ResMed P30i/N30i.

I tried them on my P30i and they worked great and no longer slide up.

Here's a pic of the Philips Dreamwear Headgear with Arms on my ResMed mask.

YES! That looks very promising! I will get one of these and try them out. Although slightly off topic, I see that you are using the ClimateAir? Are you happy with it and isn´t it too heavy (and dragging on the mask too much)?

Thanks a lot!

I'm very happy with it.

I have never experienced rain-out, and that's the primary role for it. I'm approaching the three year anniversary of the original one I got with my machine, so happy with the quality.

Regarding the weight, I don't notice it being dragged around, so that's not an issue either.
