Inspire inplantable treatment for sleep apnea

Post by RRR » Wed Dec 02, 2020 12:00 pm

Has anyone heard of or had any experience with the Inspire implantable treatment for sleep apnea? It claims to
stimulate the oropharyngeal muscles to keep the airway patent during sleep. Supposedly covered by insurance and Medicare for eligible patients.

Thanks,
RRR

We have heard of it and in fact there have been a couple of forum members who got it done and it has been discussed here in the past.

The criteria for having it done is very specific and not everyone qualifies. I had a friend who looked into it and she didn't qualify.
So if interested in it you need to start with your primary care doctor and get a referral to someone who does it and they start the criteria procedures which does include a sleep study done in a lab to isolate exactly just where the airway tends to collapse.

Check with YOUR insurance before proceeding.
Get the coverage statement IN WRITING.
I understand the procedure is very expensive.
