1 year with cpap and need help. Many issues

Post by sdeters6990 » Fri Nov 27, 2020 12:57 pm

I have Been a Cpap user for about a year. I have met the compliance when I first got the machine. But the last few months I have only been able to use it for about an hour at night. I have been having many issues.

1. My mask has been leaking at higher pressures 12-18 The pressure never goes down, I have to restart the machine then the mask comes off.
2. To keep the mask from leaking I have it so tight against my face that it cause sore on the inside of my cheeks and mouth.
3. I have been swallowing air, which makes me feel ill
4. The air in the mask seems hot even I have the tube heat turned off. I like the nice cool air vs warm air.
5. When I look at the Oscar I have more RERA events than I do apnea events.
6. When the pressures get high my cheeks puff out big time.
7. I cant sleep on my side with the current mask.
8. I am planning on getting a new mask I like to sleep on my side which one is recommended? The one I use now I can only lay on my back.

I have more issues these seem like the top issues I am having. I want to use this thing but I have had not help from the local doctors and CPAP supply Place.

This sounds like a LOT to deal with! Two quick questions:

Could you post a recent Oscar daily chart that seems pretty typical? Be sure to include the left panel with pie chart and calendar turned off, and include these graphs in one screenshot:

Events
Flow rate
Pressure
Leaks
Flow limitations
Snores.

Do you think you could sleep with your mouth closed? If you breathe through your nose during the day, you might be able to at night. That would open up the range of masks you could consider.

You may not like it, but the full face masks with the forehead support give the stability needed to sleep in any position. Look at the F& P Simplus, the F&P Vitera and the ResMed Mirage Quattro.

Hi,

I'm only a newbie, but I'm a changes-sleep-positions a gazillion times a night kind of newbie. I have found that the dreamtime mask by Phillips (which has the hose attached near the top of your head like a stem or stalk) means I can move lots and not have my mask come off. Basically with the hose coming out the top of my head, it's hard to get it caught under my arm etc if I flip or roll. I'm even able to sleep prone with the side of my head on the pillow and the mask/face hanging off into a couple inches of space above the mattress.

It took a few nights to get the tightening on the straps just right - not too loose, not too tight.

There are also the face-spring layer things (padacheek.com) which you can add to a mask and apparently save your face. I have no idea if they make a big difference.

Take care!
