AirSense10 AutoSet goes up but never down
AirSense10 AutoSet goes up but never down
I am a new CPAP (APAP) user with this unit set to 5-20 and a philips dreamwear nasal mask. I have mild apnea 9.5 but the but this setup ramps up and up to 16cm, even if I am sitting in a chair awake and breathing normally, and does not come down until the stop button is pushed. I have self titrated the max down and have it set to 5-7 cm and my events have come down to 0.1 / hour, better than the 4-5/hour with autoset, not to mention it being unusable when stuck on 16cm. I do have an appointment to have it looked at in a couple of weeks but would like to know if someone could provide guidance for this anomalous behavior, and if I can trust the machine's reporting that I am OK at 7cm max. Thanks!

Hi, not sure why you moved the usual setting of 20 for max pressure to 7 as it can easily 'cap' the min. pressure there when it might want to go higher (more likely, as it's the 'one' that does the work, not the max setting). I'd move the max back to 20 (or at least e.g. 15) and try the min. at e.g. 6 for a couple of nights.
And the machine won't produce valid results at all if you're awake - it doesn't know you're awake, but breathing patterns are very different than asleep, so don't put any store in those results.

What you've described does not make sense.stewpod wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 5:37 pmI am a new CPAP (APAP) user with this unit set to 5-20 and a philips dreamwear nasal mask. What do you mean you have self titrated the max down and have it set to 5-7cm.
If your max is set to 7, your machine can't go to 16.
Describe you settings exactly, something like:
Mode: AutoSet
Max Pressure: 7.0
Min Pressure: 5.0
Response: Standard
Ramp Time: Auto
Start Pressure: 4.0
Mask: Pillows
EPR: On
EPR: Fulltime
EPR Level: 3
It sounds like your machine is not configured as you think it is.
You should also be posting a graph, so we can see why it's increasing.

It's great that you like your machine set on 7, but you have no idea if you are getting any therapy. If you go into your settings and find ESSENTIALS...change the setting to PLUS. Then go back and look at the sleep report on your screen. Without data, you are shooting in the dark. Most people have their max set at 20 or at least high teens.

Forget what the machine does while you are awake. We breathe very differently when awake and it doesn't match the machine's expectations.stewpod wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 5:37 pmI am a new CPAP (APAP) user with this unit set to 5-20 and a philips dreamwear nasal mask. If your goal is to get used to the machine while awake you can probably do that if you understand the numbers don't mean a thing.
Check out the styles at the top of the forum, read on how to use oscar and come back here with data so we can give good advice.

Sleep loss is a terrible thing. People get grumpy, short-tempered, etc. That happens here even among the generally friendly. Try not to take it personally.
Re: AirSense10 AutoSet goes up but never down
I'm good thanks. Just thought I'd see if anyone had encountered higher pressures than necessary to minimize AHI on autoset units. Doesn't sound like it so thanks again.
