APAP first night challenge
This is my very first night, so working on improving. Any thoughts or suggestions?
The smell of plastic was terrible, so washed the mask and hose today.
Air is leaking from around the mask and I am working on improving this. Shaved my beard.
I noticed the air seemed too warm or humid. Not sure which one to change first, temperature or humidity.
Sleep study AHI=28.6, and last night=3.35.

Re: APAP first night challenge
If the air is too warm, you don't need the heated hose. Turn it off or use a standard hose. I wouldn't make any setting changes until you have used the machine for a week. I think you have the wrong machine listed in your profile.

Re: APAP first night challenge
Do (did) you turn over from e.g. side to back or vice versa at some point - lotta leaking going on afterward if that was the reason (see the gray places) - and your mask may have slid sideways... not a reason to overtighten, but maybe a Pap pillow (with cutouts) should be looked at. And yes, you either have an Airstart (less likely) or an Airsense 10 auto machine.
Re: APAP first night challenge
You have the wrong machine selected in your equipment profile.
Look down in the R's for the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet....that's where your selection will be. It's not up in the A's.
There was a mistake made when the AutoSet was entered into the system and it's down in the R's and all the others are up in the A's.

Re: APAP first night challenge
My apologies, I had the incorrect machine in my profile. It is the newest Airsense 10 auto machine.
I woke up at least a dozen times last night. I kept pulling the nose part down so I could get some cool air. It seems like 80F was just too hot for me. I have dropped the hose temperature by 2 degrees to 78F, and will see how that does tonight. I typically do toss and turn, so perhaps causing more leaks than normal. I shaved, will clean face well and try some pure aloe vera tonight.
Last night, I think, when I woke up, I was much more deeper asleep, than what I am used to. I think I slept deeper. I had to be extra careful using the bathroom, due to sleepiness, which was less of a concern in the past.

Re: APAP first night challenge
The maximum hose air temp is 86 degrees Fahrenheit.
Your own breath also contains warmth and moisture.
Try turning the hose air temp down to around 74 degrees and see how that feels.
Remember that your ambient room temperature is also going to be a factor.

Re: APAP first night challenge
I turned the hose temperature down to 76 F and that is significantly more comfortable IMO, but I will try at 74 F this week.
Shaving the beard and using some pure Aloe Vera gel on my face provided a much better mask seal of 8.4 L/min last night.
Last night myair score was 100 points for everything. 4.6 events per hour.
Also this week, I may turn off the 30 minute low start air autoramp, as a test.
Thank you team for sharing the wealth of knowledge. Much appreciated.
Best regards,

Re: APAP first night challenge
Apnea almost killed me IMO, BP 200/130. Now BP 120/70. I had to do some tweaking to get this comfortable, but I can do this, and this is improving the future. I sleep so much deeper. I am stoked about my health and the future I can have with family and friends.
