When I started out on xpap I had sore lungs for a while. Every time I would bump up the pressure 1cm to optimize therapy I would have sore lungs for a week or so. Hopefully that is all that's going on for you and not something more serious.
Did it mainly hurt when you breathed in or was it just a constant soreness?

It bothers me when someone says their "doctor" told them to stop using cpap.
Bad doctor--worse advice.
Not MY doctor for any longer than it would take to replace that incompetent 1-percenter.
Neither doctor told me to “stop using cpap”. They told me to not use it until the pain went away, and then give it another go at a lower pressure. You think that’s bad advice?

I know that pausing treatment often leads to permanent stoppage.
If your doctor seems to be otherwise competent, he might know what he is saying--
but you need a way to get back on cpap as soon as your condition allows.
Your discomfort may be only temporary, but always get back to cpap when possible.

I feel like they were sore all the time, breathing in and out. I don't remember since it's been years since I experienced it. It was a mild discomfort that felt like sore throat, lungs and chest. I was concerned at first but not enough to see the doc, plus others said that soreness is common for a little while. Also I started out at a low pressure and increased in small increments over a course of years so I may have never experienced the extremes of going to a high pressure right away. I'm sure a lot of people experience it when starting out so hopefully someone else will post what they know.

Chest muscles tend to get more of a workout at first.
Sometimes there is an ache in the chest wall until the muscles adapt.
I never felt a "burning", but some may.
Our description and tolerance for pain varies from person to person.
I forget that I may be wrought from harder steel than some.
