ICON NOVO Screen flashing

I have 2 ICON NOVO machines, both appear to be 2013 models. Both have been fine until a few months ago. Both have the problem discussed in other boards where they do not power up after being unplugged. They seem to recover, but it might take days to weeks. Then fail again if power is lost. I have opened both, checked the power supply works and closed them up. I did remove and check the battery on one just out of curiosity. That unit now tries to power up but seems to keep rebooting about every 5 seconds. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I also find it odd for both machines of the same year to fail in the same year.

Have you checked with who or wherever you got them from? We're not very familiar with those here, but if all machines have measurable lifespans and are only designed to be good for a certain number of hrs which may have been reached with yours. Seven yrs may be a long time for them after all, especially if you sleep many hrs. I'd also look into your building or city's power supply during those times as they may have gone down at those times. How would we know any more than others at other forums?

Thanks for the link. I had found that before. While it gives the procedure for installing the new software, it doesn't provide any information on how to obtain the software. I will try using the stick from the second machine.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I have spent my life in electronics manufacturing. Lifespan would normally be an electronics failure sort of thing. Such a failure would not recover with out replacement of the defective component. These have worked fine for the 7 years. To have both experience the same issue within a couple of months implies a programmed failure in my book. This is not unheard of. Apple recently had to admit they programmed a battery recharge limit in Iphones to give customers incentive to upgrade after a few years. As mentioned, once running, these work fine until I either unplug them or there is a power failure. They then do not restart for a few days. I am monitoring one now. The last time it happened it restarted on the 4th day. Today is the 3rd day. Will try it tonight, then see if it starts tomorrow. If this is a consistent scenario, it would indicate a pre-programmed failure. I would call that a class actionable sort of thing.
