Amara View vs. Dreamwear Full Mask - nose pain
Amara View vs. Dreamwear Full Mask - nose pain
I've been testing out a lot of masks since I started CPAP earlier this year. so far, I can't stand the Resmed F30i - it always causes major pain under my nose (between the nostrils). The Dreamwear full face mask pushes a little more gently, but it still causes pain in that same spot. The Amara view intrigues me, because it has the same basic profile as these other two masks, but looks like it may not require the same amount of pushing up against the bottom of the nose to work. I could be wrong, so I'm looking for other people with experience with these. Has anyone been able to compare the Amara view to the dreamwear (or F30i), and if so, how do they compare in terms of pressure on the bottom of the nose? I know I also have the option of over-the-nose type masks like the Resmed f20 and others, but that style doesn't seem to be perfect for me either, and if I can make a minimal contact mask work, I'd like to. I just can't deal with that pain under the nose.

If you are getting pain from these masks, have you considered the InoMed Hybrid or ResMed Liberty mask. These masks fit under the nose like the masks you have tried, but they use nasal pillows instead of having the cushion fit tight against the nose.

Using the Dreamwear FFM with the "Medium-Wide" sized cushion made a great deal of difference in comfort.

Re: Amara View vs. Dreamwear Full Mask - nose pain
Thanks for the suggestions. My one attempt with nasal pillows (the dreamwear) was a bust, but it's possible my sizing was wrong. I'm starting to think that I've gotten the wrong size of every.single.mask I've gotten so far (and I've gotten far more than insurance covers in the last 7 months). So maybe the right size of dreamwear will do the trick, and I'll consider the pillows again...
