ne question is, dont people who are considered non SDB still have occasional apnea and occasional drop in oxygen?
Yes, everyone can have a random apnea and it's quite common for oxygen levels to drop a little during sleep.

What else could an in lab study tell me besides if I have SDB or not besides something like restless legs?
It could tell you for sure if you were asleep or not when an arousal happened....that is of course if you can sleep in the lab setting.
Trust me...it's not easy what with all the wires and the different bed and environment.

Hi guys, I managed to get an in lab sleep study done instead of having to do a second at home study done again. I am going to post the results in a picture below. I have a titration in lab appointment overnight stay coming up and I'm wondering if there is anything I can know that could help me in this next step. Having to choose a medical supplier etc. Also, about my results, my ahi is 5.5 for 5 hours of sleeping and 30 ahi during rem. My doctor said it's mild sleep apnea. Also, the sleep arousal index was a bit alarming to me as it said I woke spontaneously a bunch each hour, which seems to be not even SDB related, right? The desaturation was only 91% at the lowest, which seems to not be bad I would think. Does that mean my brain is waking me up before I get too low? It does say I had apnea up to 30 seconds which is different than what sleepyhead shows for me. I've been using an old cpap for a little while now. The longest apnea I think I've seen is 10 seconds or so I think. I haven't used sleepyhead in such a long while. I just have the machine on a minimum of 8 and max of 10. The machine says my ahi is .2 or something low like that. Could I just get some feedback/thoughts on my report and what I've said here. Sorry it's all over the place

A bit like my own OSA....mild in non REM but severe in REM but the overall average is what makes the "official" diagnosis.
I was 12 AHI in non REM and 53 AHI in REM but what happens to people like us is when we get to REM the apnea events start happening and they end up kicking us out of REM so we don't get as much REM as we need for the restorative powers of sleep to work their magic.

Correct. This is likely going to be your major problem. Those spontaneous arousals (no known specific cause) are messing with the sleep cycles. Since they aren't related to SDB we can't expect cpap to fix them....bummer but it's the cold hard fact of life.

Look for the other non SDB suspects....outside factors, other health issues, medication side effects, etc. Lots of detective work and not easy to do and even harder to fix.

why when i did my at home sleep study did it only show i had an ahi of 2.5? how could it miss 30 ahi in rem even if its an at home test?

Home sleep studies often don't even measure sleep status at all.
And they are notorious for under reporting any AHI.
And you might not have had much REM during the home study for any number of reasons to inflate the AHI any.

"Caffeine" shows on your study. Some of us are very sensitive to caffeine. In my own case, I had to get off of it completely. I can get away with two small squares of chocolate at lunch but no more. Sigh.

Get your MD to write a script for whatever machine you want... "Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset (for Her if you're OK with this newest and best - nothing to do with being 'female' as such), plus "mask of patient's choice".

You can't just walk (or write) in to the DME and ask for any machine, let alone without a prescription.

yes.

and as julie indicates, any doctor can write a 'script. heck, even a dentist can. so you can shop around a bit if you need to find someone to write specifically what you want.

the airsense you mention is still one of the best and many here (me included) think it is THE best.

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Ask your doctor's office which supplier their patients give good reviews. Then, do your own research.
