Easy release/connect for mask hose
Easy release/connect for mask hose
Hello,
My mother has arthritis in her hands and trying to connect and disconnect the mask hose
from the cpap hose is impossible. She has an airsense 10 and p10 nasal pillow.
I googled a bit and nothing really caught my eye as usable.
Any suggestions as what I might make/buy/use to help her.
Thanks

Re: Easy release/connect for mask hose
Why does she need to disconnect it?
When I used the P10, I only disconnected it for washing, every 2 weeks or so.
I think your only solution is to change mask styles, for example the P30i has a quick disconnect from the hose to the mask. But then, she might have difficulty pulling the pillows from the mask frame.

Re: Easy release/connect for mask hose
She needs to disconnect to go to restroom at night.
She has trouble getting pillow to fit each night so it is best if she put on one time
and only removed pillow when she woke up in the morning.
So now she has to take the pillow off and then put it back on again.
That is also difficult for her. So trying to get it as easy as possible for her.
Thanks

Re: Easy release/connect for mask hose
Trying to wrench off the P10 hose from the CPAP hose with arthritis is one of the more difficult tasks.
I thin the best approach is to help her to put the mask on and off while leaving it attached. Then with practise, do it by herself.

cpap.com used to have something similar but I can't find it now.
I do not know how it will work with the P10 or not.

I see 9.99 as a price and it allows me to add it to the cart.
Did you go further than that and get told reference only?

Re: Easy release/connect for mask hose
There used to be a cool little quick disconnect with a tiny little plastic tab to push to disconnect but I can't find it now either.
Also...to the OP...hold on just a bit. I think I have a quick disconnect of some sort in the big donations box and I have a P10...Give me a bit to go dig out the box and sort through the mess and I will try it with the P10 to see if it works.
If it works...you can just have it. Be happy to mail it to you.

Re: Easy release/connect for mask hose
Okay...I found it (had 3 of them) and another coupler that has a very short hose.
Both will fit the P10 and the long hose.
Tell her not to cram them in too tight into the mask hose or she will have the same trouble as she does now.
They are a bit easier to detached but not a lot easier. There's a fine line between snug enough to withstand moving in the bed and pulling on the mask hose and staying together and being easy to disconnect.
I have had both forever. They were donated. I have no idea where they came from. Been sitting out in plastic box in the shed for ages...you will want to do you own washing per your own routine. I would do the same so no sense in my washing them.
I will give you everything just to get them gone. Send me your name and address privately and I will box them up and drop them in the mail to you. Might be Monday before I go to town though...post office closes tomorrow at 11 and hubby has somewhere to go tomorrow.
We can discuss postage later. It won't be much...I just have to go find something to mail them in.
Maybe even a padded envelope will work...gotta go look.

Re: Easy release/connect for mask hose
Looks like Pugsy is taking care of you. If that doesn't work out, know that I have used one of these quick connects ( https://www.cpapxchange.com/900hc010-qu ... apter.html ) for years. It goes between the main hose and the CPAP machine. When getting up for a restroom trip, just disconnect at the machine and wrap the hose around your neck. Easy, peasy.resize wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 7:03 amShe needs to disconnect to go to restroom at night.
