It never ceases to amuse me when people come in asking for advice, then get their panties all bunched up when the advice isn't what they want to hear.

Why even ask?

Do whatever you want with it, but don't come back here whining should your machine die on you.

ta ta!
I did ask for what to do with the S9 in my OP, prior to throwing it out. That in itself indicates, that I have no intention keeping it around. That was further confirmed in my other posts, indicating that donation is a viable option. Despite clearly indicating that I do not want the S9, it did not stop 6-7 posts emphasizing to keep the S9 as spare for various reasons. Maybe, if the posts had links for where to donate the S9, that would had been the correct advice, I'd be me more appreciative.

Thanks for the permission to do whatever I want with it, you're very kind...

No, you did NOT ask what *you* should do with *your* S9 prior to throwing it out. "You asked, What are people doing with their old CPAP machines?".

Even though you indicated you did not intend on keeping it, that doesn't mean that you had considered keeping it as a spare. The reason so many people suggested keeping it as a spare is, people throwing out recently replaced machines and masks and then needing a spare, but not having one is a fairly common occurrence.

And finally as much as you want this topic to be about *about* you, it's not. The majority of topics are not just for the benefit of the OP. They are also for other readers of the board, who may not have considered the value of keeping spare equipment.

You are welcome to dispose of your old machine however you choose,
but bear in mind that even new equipment has been known to fail.
We only discover these failures at bedtime--when the DME is closed.
Friday night seems to be quite common, leaving you hanging until Monday.
Generosity is commendable, but we can help no one if we do not take care of ourselves first.

I forgot about those--retirement, and now the quarantine!
DME's have quite an affinity for "bankers' hours".
Must be all that dirty money . . .

My S9 had been replaced by AirSense 10 and my supplier did not want the old S9. Prior to throwing it out, just curious...

What are people doing with their old CPAP machines?

TIA...
THAT was your ORIGINAL question!
But, everyone told you what they do with theirs and as a suggestion to you.......what to do with YOURS.
But, you've rejected everyone's advice and demonstrated what an ignorant asshole you are. It's already paid for and it still works.......that's two things to your advantage. "Murphy's Laws" apply to this niche of life as it does to others......maybe even more so. If you're not prepared for "the worst"........you DESERVE what you'll get.

MY advice would also be to keep the machine. You can never know in advance when you will need one. The pages of this forum contain MANY middle-of-the-night events when somebody pulled their machine off the nightstand (and it quit working) or had an external power supply quit working for some reason, or had a horribly annoying fan/noise problem, or some other event which renders their primary machine inoperative. Just because yours is "new" doesn't mean it's going to last as long as you THINK it should. And, if something happens to your primary machine (even under warranty) and you have to send it off to be fixed, you would need another machine to get you by till the primary returns.

The main reason most of us hang around this forum is to offer advice to newer users who ask questions and seek advice. You obviously fall into that category of having no idea what might be in store for you some night when you aren't prepared.
By the way.........the old saying of the Boy Scouts was......."BE PREPARED". But, some people aren't and refuse to consider the repercussions of not being prepared. Just like this COVID virus situation........how many people had ABUNDANT supplies of everyday things to get them through months of sheltering in place? (Did you have a 6-month or longer supply of toilet paper?........we did!)

Anyway..........lots of luck with your future therapy. By the way.........do you have a battery backup UPS??? If not, I'd suggest getting one. Some areas of the country have issues with power to their homes occasionally.

Just do not donate to Goodwill.
Apparently, they have an agreement to destroy cpaps, instead of allowing them to be reused.

I'm looking for an S9 to use and would be happy to take it off your hands. I can't send a PM (probably due to the fact that this is a newly registered account) but maybe you can send me one and we can discuss?

Now that you've made your first you should be able to PM.

Given the OP wanted to donate his old S9, hopefully he'll let you have it for the cost of shipping, or less

You can now both send and receive private messages. We have to do an initial screening on all new account posts because of some bad experiences in the past with some spam bots so there is a little lag time between when you submit your first post and it gets approved so that the others can see it.
You now have all the same privileges of everyone else here.

Thanks for the replies, but...

I see no reason to store the S9 for just in case; your health condition may dictates to you to have one, but mine does not.

I respect your choice and you should respect mine, instead of throwing spear tires in my way and/or sending Murphy over for a visit.
Your choice, your funeral. Ok, so maybe it won't be the literal end of the world for you, but consider keeping it for, say, travel. Why tote and risk losing your new machine if you have a spare that you can take instead?

Not everybody has closet space, but some have deep pockets or an aversion to "hoarding".
Different drummers, folks.
