1 Month in Resmed Auto Set 10 for Her

Post by xathras1982 » Wed May 06, 2020 5:47 pm

Hi All,

Just wanted to post an update on my progress as I transitioned from my old Philips Respironics System One 60 CPAP machine to the Resmed Auto Set 10 for Her.

In all I would give the device a 10 out 10. Why?
1. Easy to use, setup, configuration and understand performance
2. Smaller than previous unit
3. Much quieter than existing unit
4. I have been feeling better

It definitely took a few nights to get used to the higher pressures as mine was fixed at 9cm. However, right now I have a minimum of 9cm and max of 20cm set.

After buying the heated tubing no longer experiencing any kind of rain out or issues with the mask. Setting to auto on humidity, I'm using 2cm of adjustment as i breath and seeing much better results in terms of minutes in apnea, etc.

I have the Resmed MyAir setup, I thought there was a service fee for this - but never found anything on fees, no ask for CC etc. I like that service and thats nice to have a simple summary in the morning without the need to launch OSCAR. On subject of OSCAR, great software and addition when i want to drill into data and understand if i had a bad night, a leak etc.

In last week i've been playing with masks. I have a F30, F20 and Quattro. I am also alternating sizes of masks to see which one is better no just for seal, leaks etc, but also comfort. The large leaks have generally come from something i've done e.g. lack of adjustment or rolled in my sleep, taken off, etc.

Here is a summary report for anyone interested. I got the device April 4th I think.

I want to thank all those that gave recommendations on devices, settings and support.

Although I don't have the 'For Her' model, I, too, transitioned from a Respironics System One 60 (Auto) to a Resmed Autoset 10. I have similar feelings about the machine, and I feel better, too! I wouldn't go back if you paid me.

Well....you just voided your ResMed machine warranty using an ozone cleaner.

Your choice but ozone is a poisonous gas, harmful to your lungs and not really needed.

But it's your money, your lungs, your machine with a voided warranty,....
Or did you come here just to promote the VirtuClean machine? Since there was really no need to even mention it in this thread?
Sort of throw it out there as free spam?

I agree that the cleaner isn't necessary and may even be harmful to the device/user, but how do you know your first point is valid? How do you know she bought the device after the decision??

Brand new forum member. Didn't ever say how long they had been a cpap user...one way of the other. Most of the time new to forum equals a new to cpap therapy person. I played the odds. If not new to cpap then the person can skip that part of my thoughts as not applicable.....which is what anyone with common sense would or should do anyway.
I covered all bases in one comment rather than playing 20 questions with them.

I never said your point wasn't valid lol. I asked you how you knew it was. There is a difference, but I don't know if you could see it with your "attack first, ask questions later" attitude here. Why are you so hostile to people posting here? ...Especially people you think are completely new to CPAP therapy?

You stated "you just voided your RedMed machine warranty" as if that was a fact and as if you just couldn't wait to be smug about it, without first getting all the relevant information from her. Just saying, if I was you, I wouldn't have been so quick to accuse someone of not understanding their own warranty information, especially as it just made you look like you didn't understand that the strong, strong majority of people with ResMed machines in the world can still use a cleaner without threat of voiding their warranty... and it just makes you sound rude when you could have just, I don't know, asked her instead of accusing her of unknowingly voiding her warranty (AND also spamming the thread with sales lol.) Hostile af.

But, wow, if she really is only 3 months or less completely new to CPAP therapy, I have to hand it to her. It took her less than 3 months to not only find her perfect machine AND mask, but also to have already gotten so over the amount of cleaning her equipment that she had to do for her to have already stopped cleaning it "regularly" and then found, ordered, had delivered, and set up a cleaner. I was barely even keeping my first, crummy mask on all night at 3 months, and I was not at all committed enough to CPAP therapy at that point to buy any costly extra supplies (no matter how pointless and damaging they may be.)

If you want to continue to use VirtuClean 2 (although it does seem more problematic than useful),

and if you bought the ResMed after Feb 1 of this year,

and if someday you still have damage to the ResMed that cannot be traced back to ozone damage,

please note that you did not completely "void your warranty" of all problems and know that you can still contact ResMed for further assistance in honoring your still completely valid, non-voided warranty.

Ozone damage was always going to be something they could come back and say wasn't their fault. Just like they don't need to release a statement saying using acid to spray down your machine isn't their fault. They are just doing it to make it super clear that they will be looking to see if ozone damage is at the root of the problem before they honor any warranties for newer sales.

You can clearly see the irony of someone who isn't using correct capitalism and who used the wrong "you're/your" in the phrase "if all 'your' going to do..." in shading someone else for also using colloquial/netspeak writing that isn't stringently edited, right? Or... is this another instance of it is okay if you do it, but not okay if someone else does it?
