First night on DreamStation

first night on the dreamstation auto.

I think this was a pretty good first night and I feel fairly well rested but still woke up a few times.

I'm still not sure on how to interpret all the OSCAR data.

Any insights?

I’m no expert but I learned that you should re-organize the OSCAR report so that all the most necessary information is present in a single screenshot. In that way, more experienced people here can help you out when they can see all the data the want.

A good start should be here:
https://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.p ... ganization

Another helpful guide to understand what all those parameters on OSCAR are about
https://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.p ... Daily_Page

Hope this helps.

Also I want to say that if you manage to get a 7-hour sleep on your first night in a CPAP, you might be in for a very good long run! Unlike my situation where my dad had to adapt for over a week and we’re still trying to figure things out.

All the best!

So... Welcome sa1ty!

Everything that samurai3005 said is good advice. With charts well organized, we're better able to help you. What was your AHI? Don't sweat waking up a couple times. What a great first night!

Chris

G'day sa1ty,

I am in my 3rd week of using a DreamStation and had very similar experiences to begin with, but now I'm sleeping right through. Think it just takes a bit of time for the mind and body to settle to the crazy concept of sleeping and breathing :D but considering you did an 8hr stint on your first night, it looks like you are off to a great start. Keep it up mate!

Thanks for the replies everyone. Happy to have found this board. I learned a lot before I even got my machine.

I will work on organizing my charts after I sleep tonight.

My AHI was 2.97 which I am very happy with for first use. Would love to get rid of the snoring for good!

Thanks again everyone.

As others have said, you're off to a great start: your usage is impressive, you are using Oscar, you have found this community, and you are engaged in improving your own treatment and experience. Way to go!

Miss E,

I had never read the small printing on your avatar. I love it! It's perfect for this board. :)

latest night in CPAP. I have been bouncing around from 1.9 - 3 AHI. I mostly feel more rested but still wake up a few times in the night. Only took the mask off once! so I think I am getting a handle on this. I think I need better sleep hygiene which has suffered because of an unsteady work schedule due to pandemic. I would like to get more sleep but my entire life i always seem to wake up after about 6 hours.

edit: I am very thankful I have found all of you on this board! loads of information and very supportive. Thank you all!

glad things are going well for you. and it's good that you are getting "hands on" with your therapy.

but one nitpicking thing. it's how you have your graph formatted. there is too much info in there which makes it harder to see the info that needs to be seen. you can leave this one alone, but next time, could you do your graph this way-

Suggested Support Order for your charts
Event Flags
Flow Rate
Pressure
Leak Rate
Flow Limit (Only for Resmed machines, not on Respironics)

thanks and keep up the good work!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.
