Help! Higher Trending AHI & Aerophagia Returns

Post by droo_d » Wed Apr 29, 2020 1:54 pm

I noticed that in the month of April, my trending AHI has gone up considerably without me touching any settings for 2 months outside of Humidity: 4 to 5. In March, the Obstructive statistic never passed 1.00 on any of the days but it's happening frequently in April. Aerophagia has come back after 2.5 months of not having it. I rarely have large leaks although my AirTouch F20 cushion has been used for 3 months (just ordered a new one). First time importing data in 80 days so I'm at a loss for what to attach with so much data. If there's any additional screenshots you'd like me to attach, please let me know and I'll get it asap. Thank you.

Questions:
Does the hot summer weather have anything to do with this? First time CPAP user during this season.
I've gotten better at curbing my year-round dust mite allergies this month, causing congestion in my right nasal daily. Does an open nasal passage cause more aerophagia?
Based on 3 months worth of data, I noticed clear airways is higher than everything else. Should I be more focused on that?

Hate to ask, but have you possibly gained even a little weight lately - e.g. even 15 lbs? You'd be amazed at how much difference it can make!

How's your overall sleep quality been lately? Waking more often during the night and/or having some trouble getting back to sleep?
Any change in medications...new, removed, dosage???

I'm SO glad you brought this up Julie. I didn't even think of this. Although I weigh the approximately the same, I currently DO NOT look the same because I've loss some muscle mass while putting on some fat during this whole shelter-in-place ordeal. That's a for sure. I'm currently going through the first week of P90x right now so I'm going to use this pain to push myself harder. Appreciate you bringing this up!

Hi Pugsy! No change in medications, no new medications and nothing removed. No drugs or anything as well. Sleep quality is really hard to say because for the past 2 weeks, I've been making it a MUST for me to get 7-8 hours of actual sleep so I'm usually in bed for 9-10 hours daily and so I feel much better overall and can't exactly say how much the higher AHI is affecting me.

In the month of March, my sleep time was always hovering around the 4.5-5.5 hour park daily for weeks and although the AHI was lower, I still felt fatigue because of the sleep issue. I do find myself crashing nowadays even with adequate sleep towards the afternoon but I'm on the computer for work all day and it's likely more eye fatigue from not taking enough standing breaks than anything else.

Julie brought up weight gain and I definitely have put on some fat while losing some muscle. Enough to see both my stomach and cheeks widen a tad bit so I'll definitely be working on weight loss for now. Is this normal during weight gain?
