Hi people
I am one of those person for whom cpap is not a lucky thing and also I am too lazy to get ot ready every night.
So time to time I get myself motivated to use it then bad luck happens.
Issue list is long but I am mentioning here only two.
1- Aerophagia: This is the lastest issue I found. My stomach is full of air and it hurts when I wake up. Not every morning but this happened two times recently. I am afraid will it damage my organs. I am already having pain in middle of chest and right between the area where chest ends and abdomen starts and right in the middle. Please help me to get rid of this. I am Gerd patient and have been diagnosed by h pylori 2 times.
2- Snoring: I am still snoring sleeping on my back while cpap is on. And it stops when I sleep on side. Help here too.
I live in a country where people are not too much aware of osa. And to be honest sleep experts are rare to find here. So mostly I did self treatment though I did a sleep test in which I was diagnosed with osa and my REI was 69.3
Anyone who can help me personally and give me little time to adjust my machine I would be really thankful.

Re: Aerophagia Exteme Issue
I had the same problem with my first CPAP. By dint of much complaining to the pulmonologist, she changed me to an auto set Bipap machine. This didn’t totally get rid of it. I have found that sleeping on my left side prevents insufflatuon. If I sleep in my right side I sometimes will still get some but not as much. Also, over time, your system learns to cope with the machine and my GERD actually went away because the sphincter that closes off the stomach grew stronger.

in order for your condition to improve, you simply must use it every night.Usman wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 9:15 amHi people

that said, it's hard to use it every night if it gives you problems and you can't sleep with it.

what are your pressure settings?
even more info could be provided if you download the free software, oscar. this currently runs on windows, macs and linux. it's full blown software, in other words. with the software, you can gather data and post it here, in this thread, for advice.
meanwhile, i have fought my own aerophagia. see my longwinded saga here-

tl;dr i went back to the lowest pressure that did not give me any gas. then S-L-O-W-L-Y raised my minimum to the point where my body adapted. it never went away completely, using this method, but it got to the point where i could tolerate it AND get effective treatment from cpap.

Re: Aerophagia Exteme Issue
Do whatever you can to not sleep on your back (or flip to it in your sleep). Some people wear (temporarily) small backpacks with towels inside, others have foam wedges behind them... you can get creative with what's available. Take a Tums (calcium tabs) before bed - it's amazing how well just that (or even half of one) works - no expensive prescription meds, and no side effects (which a lot of the others give you).
Is there a reason why you can't keep your machine, mask, etc. set up 24/7 with a small bag over the mask so when you come to bed, you're all ready to go (takes me 10 seconds to get the mask on)?
And don't feel you need to ever wash the hoses - not unless you see something in there... they only transport air between the machine and mask - one way - and should have no issues. Just use baby wipes on the mask a few times a week, soap and water ? once a wk.
