Resumed air fit p30 and dreamstation
Resumed air fit p30 and dreamstation
I have a dreamstation machine but bought at Resmed air fit p30. What mask setting would I use? I’m getting chest pain from too much pressure I think.

According to Phillips you use the "off" setting for every non Phillips mask.
Not sure how much difference those X settings actually make, there's varied reports. I've not noticed a difference when I've tried them.
I've been using the X2 setting because that's what Phillips recommend for their version of the P30i style mask.

Re: Resumed air fit p30 and dreamstation
My HMO and DME is Kaiser Permanente. They issued me a DreamStation and a P10 mask.
FWIW they set the mask type as X1.
If you are getting chest pains from too much pressure, you need to use SleepyHead or OSCAR to get detailed information on what your actual pressures are during use. It's possible that you may be able to dial back the max pressure.
In my case the DME changed the default pressure settings from (4,20) -> (7,20) when they gave me the DreamStation.
It's good that KP increased my MIN. I can't survive with a min of 4. Most people can't. I wound up changing my min to 10. That's what works best for me.
But KP didn't change the MAX, they left it at 20. I found that was way too high for me. I'm now at 15.
IMO the DreamStation isn't very good dealing with needed pressure changes. I find in my situation that it sometimes goes all the way to 15 (my MAX) and sits there for many minutes. This wakes me up. I then hit my RAMP button (which I have set to 9.5). When that happens the DreamStation says "OK, cool". And then it ramps up to about 10 or 11. it does NOT increase back to 15 (because its algorithm then realizes that it doesn't need to).
The DreamStation algorithm sucks for me. Sometimes it gets "stuck" at the max pressure and can't decide on its own to go lower. It needs my help. But this isn't an everyday occurrence. It's perhaps once a month.
So, once again, get the OSCAR data. You may need to tweak much more than the mask type setting to get comfortable with the machine.
Edit: Sorry, I meant to say I have a P10 mask. I put my DME mask setting in there in case they help someone else with my setup. But what I was really trying to say is that the mask setting probably isn't the big issue. Changing MIN and MAX pressure settings based on OSCAR information will probably help a lot more.
