Nasal Congestion following cold

Post by BoomersRock » Sat Feb 29, 2020 6:59 pm

I had a cold in January that lasted 3 weeks. I just started feeling well again when I developed a headache and nasal congestion that won’t go away. I had two courses of antibiotics for the first and second cold but still I have a stuffed up drippy nose with some fresh blood. I tried saline spray, increasing machine humidity to no effect. Today I replaced my mask, hose (non-heating) and machine filter (dusty).

My GP says she may have to refer me to a eye/ear/throat specialist.

Never had an issue with my nose that ever lasted like this (February). Any suggestions?

DEcrease the humidity - it will cause congestion and other symptoms. Try either a lower setting or 'off' altogether. And depending on where you live e.g. Wash. state vs Arizona, you may or may not ever need more, or at least only in dry winter months with central htg causing dryness. If local ambient humidity is good, why add more if you don't feel the need? And you're on the coast - close to where I live (N.B. just northeast of you) and I hardly ever add humidity.

Let me try that. I actually raised humidity(normally 70%) thinking the air in the house too dry. My hydrometer typically falls between 65 and 56%.
