AirSense 10 Humidifier Smiley when empty
AirSense 10 Humidifier Smiley when empty
I switched to the AirSense 10 for her a few months ago and something has been bothering me. The Humidifier Smiley Face is always green. I suppose the humidifier is functioning as intended without a hardware fault, but I expected to get a different icon when the water runs out. Does anyone else have that feeling, or am I missing a hidden setting?

The machine has no way to know how much water is or isn't in the water chamber.

I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

Pugsy, thanks for the reply. You may be right.
However if they have a temperature sensor in the heating element to regulate the temperature like a thermostat (I would expect they do), then they should be able to detect when the heat spikes up quickly. A rapid change in temperature when the heating element is activated would indicate there is no water, where a slower temperature rise would be expected when there is a mass of water in the chamber.
This would be a reasonable feature to expect and seems eminently do-able with the right software. Hopefully someone from Resmed reads this and prepares a firmware update.
I would like the morning green smiley face to mean a bit more.

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier Smiley when empty
The Resmed smiley face is the cpap equivalent of automotive "idiot lights".
Before gauges sat on your dash to indicate engine temperature and oil pressure,
there were bright red "warning lights".
Basically, they were disaster lights, as they usually only lit up when it was too late
to do anything except call a wrecker.
The smiley face is relatively useless--I ignore it.

Actually the engine temp gauge and oil light came first and provided useful info, then the warnings lights replaced them because they were cheaper, and stupid people ignored the warnings from both. Nowadays people are even dumber, we have the check engine light, it comes on yellow for mild problems, red for more serious ones, knowing they will still be ignored, the computer will go into the Limp Home Mode, allowing those to stupid to attempt to drive anyway! I think what you really want is a XPAP that has Legs, and runs into the bathroom and fills up the HH for you, Confess! I'm still waiting for the Firmware upgrade that makes the Screen into a flat screen projector with wireless voice controlled sat tv. I put my request in first, no jumping the line!
