Need help with Philips Respironics DreamStation

Post by TLS » Tue Feb 25, 2020 7:51 am

Hi there,

So I have had by DreamStation for three or four years now, and it has worked fine until last night. Here’s what’s going on.

When I push the button to make the air start (therapy button?) the home screen does not come on and the air doesn’t really start - it puffs for a second or two about once every ten seconds. The therapy button is glowing, too. I know it’s getting power, but it just doesn’t quite want to start up.

One thing to note: I am traveling in Peru. I’ve been down here a few weeks and it’s worked normally until now. I know there is a power difference between Peru and the US - I checked to make sure it would work before I left (I forget the number off the top of my head, but they are within range).

What do you think? Is anyone familiar with this issue? Is there anything I should try? I’m really hoping that it’s not dead.

Thanks for your help!

Unplug everything power related, and plug it back together, that's a first step.

Yep, that was the first thing I tried.

Today, when plugging it back in, the home screen will light up. But it goes down again as soon as the air comes on. It didn’t seem to be doing that last night.

Does this issue sound familiar to anyone?

You might be having severe brown-outs. I live in the Amazon region of Brazil, and brown-outs are pretty common. I haven't had this problem at night, but we've had some pretty pretty severe dips in voltage lately during the day and I've seen the screen blanking out on my Dreamstation when this happens. I've been unplugging it more during the day to protect it better. See if you can get a voltage meter and check what you're getting.
