Thanks for the tip, Captain Obvious.

This is why I continue to use the APAP.

Worry about something else.
You weren't so obvious. I got the impression you quit using cpap because a phone app recording told you that you slept well and didn't snore or gasp for breath.
The Phone App is no doubt worth every Penny he invested in it (Nothing). but it gave him the answer hr wanted! I'm Cured, I'm Cured!

kudos on the Weight Loss, most of us could use a lot of weight and get along better, But for most that get that Cure, It's them lying to themselves, not a fact,.Just a excuse to make them feel better, while not making better choices in life.

The few Cures gain the weight back, get older and the Sleep Apnea keeps doing damage and getting worse. Best of Luck, But like your (Free Phone App, I'm not Buying It!) Jim

Having been on this forum and a CPAP user for 15 years, I have seen a number of generations of equipment.
When they built the earlier machines, they probably built them too good. I haven't heard of that many REALLY OLD CPAP machines that have cratered. No, they didn't have much in recording capabilities, but they were designed to blow air for a long time and under many (adverse) conditions.
Through those years, I've read about the problems that many users had with the newer ones. It seems to me that most of the problems started when they moved the power supplies to the outside of the case. Now, some of the Legacy BiPAP models of the Respironics machines had external 24v power supplies, but I don't even recall hearing about many/any of them having problems with those external power supplies. The M Series Respironics were the first CPAP machines to utilize external power supplies. Then, it was the ResMed S9 machines to utilize them. It seems like many of the problems I've read about have to do with the external power supplies going KAPUT.
One problem with the older machines was water getting inside the case when they got pulled off the nightstands.
They improved that problem with some technology to prevent that in the newer models.
Data recording has improved in the most recent generations of machines

One testament to the Legacy Series machines' design and durability was that Respironics (and P/R) used that design for their sleep lab machines (the OmniLab) up into about 2013 before they changed to the System One style machine.

But, frankly, I've not been able to find a ResMed machine that was designed for sleep lab use.
The closest possibility I could find is this one which utilizes the S9 design characteristics.

Anyway, the point is that like any technology, it keeps changing.......sometimes for the better and sometimes not.
The principle function is to "blow air" and keep the user's airway open to breathe while they sleep.
The manufacturers still (apparently) make basic, no frills, non-data capable machines to allow the DMEs to hoodwink the unsuspecting users into using and make more profit from the insurance providers.

You want to talk about the "Dark Ages" of XPAP therapy......THAT IS STILL IT and they're still making and dispensing them!

At least my machines collect the data to monitor my therapy.........just like I could when I first started.

On the forum, we nicknamed the Legacy Models "Tanks". They were built tough, lasted for long term use and collected meaningful data.

No apologies from me for using some of the best machines that Respironics ever made.

I am 5' 10" and weigh 170 pounds and have the worst case of sleep apnea my specialist has ever seen. My diet is set up by a sports nutritionist and exercise like a fiend and at 57 am in better conditioning than most high school and many college atheletes. Never had apnea till suffered a head injury. My mother has apnea and decided to loose weight and dropped almost 100 pounds and her apnea got worse. If you have not had a sleep test how can you reach the conclusion you don't need a machine anymore? Your apnea may be worse and thus the issues with machine.
