Is this the machine or the transformer?

Post by Setj » Wed Feb 19, 2020 7:32 am

I didn't get up last night, and I didn't turn the machine off once. In all my years, this has never happened. The machine and transformer are six years old.

Is there a way to test the system at home? I have a spare transformer I could use tonight if you think it is the transformer. If not, I have to pull out an old Respironics machine that I never liked.

I feel like crap today and want to do something to have good breathing tonight. In the next few days, I'm going to use Medicare to get a new machine.

You're a great bunch of people. TIA.

Check all your connections to the power brick and at the back of the machine.
Try your spare power brick if you can't find a potential loose connection.

Yeah, as soon as I saw the problem, I checked all the connections, and they seem solid.

So, you think the problem is more likely the transformer than the machine? I really want to avoid having two nights in a row like last night.

The fact that after every break the pressure starts off at your base pressure of 10 suggests the machine is losing power and it's not just a reporting issue.

There is no way to tell from the graph whether it's the power brick, something internal to the machine, or a connector. But, my money is on the power brick.

Like DogSlobber said...no way to tell what the culprit is from looking at the graph.
Now someone with some electrical smarts (not me) could probably test the power brick to see if it was faulty or ailing.

Like DS....my first suspect would be the power brick.

Another thought. Do you use SmartSense turned on? There have been some reports of the SmartSense going whacko and if turned on and the sensor is the issue it might be thinking you aren't attached when you are attached.
Long shot though....I still suspect the power brick first as I know they do fail more often than the sensors fail.
