Also, your facial muscles will relax later at night, and may cause leaks. This is often why you have the leaks under control when you go to bed, but during night the leak rates go up.

Sheriff
Thanks, I use the Ruby chinstrap. It holds the chin snuggly, so I think the leak is coming from my lips. These are the issues that I think will get resolved with a new sleep study. It’s in the process of being set up. Thank you.

Could you say more about how the leaks disturb your sleep? Not the sound, but what?

Also, could you let us know what your AHI is? And do you think you wake up a lot during the night? You continue to feel tired and sleepy during the day, and I'm wondering why.
My AHI is always below 5. I don't wake up during the night, at least consciously. Yes, I do feel tired, but worse
than that is feeling sleepy/groggy. Sometimes taking a nap is mandatory (and I hate to nap). So, that's why I
think it's an equipment problem.
below 5 is good enough for the medical community, but not for those of us here in the forum. we like to get that ahi down to 1 or 2. it will make you feel better than "sleepy/groggy".

i hate to tell you, but this isn't a machine problem. the problem is in the settings on the machine. if you wish to feel better, may i suggest you download the free software called oscar? you could then post screenshots here. the experts will be happy to give you specific advice as to what settings you would need to change.

the software is available in my sig.

good luck!
Thanks Doc and everyone! :)

I changed my mind (I'm less irritated today than the other day when I was fuming!). I'm going to do the sleep study in the next few weeks and if the results aren't satisfactory (like getting decent leak and AHI scores), I'm going to download the software. Last time I used software was sleepyhead. Hopefully, I'll have enough mental stamina to do this! Again, thanks!

oscar IS pretty much sleepyhead. sleepyhead is dead, due to it's main author killing it. oscar is being updated even as we speak.

if you used sleepyhead, you'll have no trouble with oscar at all.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

If the leaks are out your mouth, try a chin strap or a cervical collar or mouth tape. If you're going the chin strap route get the Knightsbridge Dual Band chin strap, it's the only one that is designed to actually work. (The standard neoprene ones wrap around the tip of your chin and the force is directed directly at your jaw joint, the most uncomfortable and least effective angle possible. The Knightsbridge lifts vertically from under the chin and the dual bands, one elastic and one non-elastic, allows you to use a minimum of force so it's super comfortable.) If you're going the mouth taping route, I'd recommend the Woody Knows brand. Cervical collars are tough to get to work and it seems most people end up complaining of neck pain, but some people do prefer that to mouth tape and chin straps.
