I don't know how to reset the password because I never used it in OSCAR or SleepyHead.

Most people here don't use that feature.

You could try creating a new profile and see if things are still locked or not.
If they are the only thing I would know to do is a total removal and reinstall and this time don't touch the password stuff.
It's not something that is needed to be locked anyway.

To reset your password:
  1. Find your profile file:
It will likely be in a directory:
    Documents/OSCAR_Data/Profiles/Your name/Profile.xml
  2. Edit your Profile.xml file with a text editor
  3. Look for a line similar to the following:
    <Password type="QString">5bd1ea03857f32d44458691d1e0114ed5</Password>
  4. Remove the long string of hexadecimal data so it looks like this:
    <Password type="QString"></Password>
  5. Save your file.
The password has been removed.

Becareful not to change any of the other data values, you would be wise to backup the file prior to changing it. And don't set the password again.

For the longest time I didn't even know we had an option for creating a password.

You also don't need to put anything in that profile other than the profile name you want to use.
You don't need any of that other stuff for the software to do its thing. It's not needed at all.

I don't even use my name...I use "pugsy" as my profile name.
If someone hacked my computer and the software...they get nothing personal at all.

It's not an 'account', it's just a profile on your local computer. therefore, no password is needed.

Beats the hell out of me.
Mark put it in SleepyHead for some reason and since OSCAR started with SleepyHead then it got stuck in there by default.
Wouldn't hurt my feelings if the next version of OSCAR didn't include the password or all that other information that nothing gets done with.

Not a dumb question... but there's a number of things in SH that are firmly in the "why is this there".

Passwords where they are not needed--
