contact dermatitis due to Airfit F20 -newbie Sept 2019

Post by thyme2be » Wed Feb 05, 2020 2:51 pm

Is there an hypo allergenic option available to using the Airfit F20?

My father's face has contact dermatitis, swelling, bruising etc. This is the only 'new' item that is in contact with his skin.
Eczematous dermatitis of upper and lower eyelids of both eyes, with Periorbital edema.
We have followed all recommendations by the Dermatologist and Pulmonary-PA.
wash face, no lotions or medication on face, soft t shirt material placed between mask and face.

I have tried contacting the company to find out what the mask is actually made of, not the PR of what it does not have, they have not returned my phone calls or emails.
Does anyone else have information or know where I can find it?

thank you for any and all information

The mask cushion is silicone. Try a mask liner from padacheek.com

Contact dermatitis can occur without the presense of allergens.
Try a mask liner.
Clean it very frequently.

An AirTouch F20 may be better for him than the silicone AirFit F20. It's the same mask except that foam rubber touches the face instead of silicone. The drawback is that the foam rubber degrades faster so the mask must be replaced more often. They say replace monthly, but I've used them for months. Mine may be lasting longer because I use mask liners, too.

I have used the Snugz Full Face mask cover and the CPAP Comfort Cover. I prefer the cheaper blue CPAP Comfort Cover, which I get on Amazon. I tend to drool, so I change the liner every night. I put the used ones into a net bag and throw them in the wash. The Snugz are pricier and wear out quicker, but it feels and fits differently which some people like.
