Dry Nose

Post by BMAC1206 » Fri Feb 07, 2020 9:45 am

I have a Philip's Respironics System One with a ResMed AirFit P10. I have had it since 2014. For the past 2+ years, I have been experiencing dry nasal passages several times each night. I have tried air pillows from small to large, settled on medium after consultation with "expert" that works with my Pulmonologist. I spray with saline nasal before going to sleep and everytime I get up (1-3/night). I have tried settings from 1-5, nothing seems that different. I change the filters every 10 days or so. Set up is: Aflex 1, heated on, humidity 3, tube temp 2. Under Info days >4 is 30, check code 90. Large leak 1 day 1%, 7 day 0%, 90% pressure 8.5 to 8.9. This is my second CPAP since 2005. I have no trouble sleeping in the stages between bathroom breaks. I "think" my mouth opens some at night, when lying on my back, but not totally sure. Never experienced snoring in the years of CPAP use. My concerns are more centered around recent LBBB and Venus valve diagnoses and the relationship with my CPAP, breathing, blood flow, etc. Am I overly concerned? I have had these discussions with my MD and his expert. Suggestions do not seem to help. I go back to him in March.

First, these two might be connected. If your mouth opens, air could be rushing through your nasal passages and out your mouth. The air going through the nasal passages would be moving at a higher than normal rate. This can dry out your nasal passages in two to five minutes. Are you interested in hearing some solutions to the common mouth-opens problem?

Second, you could try an excellent product, Ayr Gel, just before masking up. The recommendation is for the gel not the mist. It's available in most drug stores. https://www.walmart.com/ip/3-pack-Salin ... /523936407
