Post by carlarenee1956 » Thu Jan 30, 2020 6:41 pm

Hello I am a new sleep apnea patient I have tried two different mask one was nasal pillow in the other one was nasal mask neither one has worked for me so far and I’m getting worried and very concerned I can’t find the right oneSomeone mentioned a CPAP mask called please bleep dreamport CPAP mask. I heard it’s a lot different than the mask you wear over your mouth and nose if someone knows something about it please let me know. I have insomnia and anxiety and obesity I know that Insomnia makes wearing a mask rather difficult. Any other suggestions? Thank you

Here's the big review thread and then a recent small discussion about the Bleep.
I have been using is for over a year now. Read up and watch the videos in the first thread and come back with any questions you might have.

Why can you not use the nasal or pillow masks?
Mouth breathing?

If so the Bleep mask will not work any better for you.

More information is needed to help you.

I personally know two previous full face users that switched to the bleep successfully. I convinced both to try it. One was given a full face mask without seeing a nasal mask right out of the sleep lab at a pressure of 8. Stupidity on the sleep techs part! Never needed a full face. The other guy mouth tapes at 13 and has done great. It’s possible a lot more than people think.

It still will not work any better for one unless one does something about the mouth breathing. (if that is the case)

Thus the ( More information is needed to help you.) sentence.

I have to use a gag to control mouth breathing, so I am well aware of the difficulties.
And creative solutions.

What's possible exactly?

Making the move from a full face to nasal anything. Some, with with help (tape, collar, mufflers, etc.) stop mouth breathing and some give nasal masks a shot and find they didn’t need a full face from the beginning.

To me...It's a LOT easier to use a FF mask than to use tape, collar, chin strap, mufflers etc.

I've come to that conclusion as well. Confinement with a collar, chin strap, one of those caps, mouth taping, even tried a moldable mouthpiece with collar, is still confinement, and the newer FFM's like the F30/F30i or similar are not uncomfortable at all, zero leakage for me, and I'm not awakened until time to "empty out."

To each their own, but I do admire those that don nothing but nasal pillows or the Bleep and wish I could do that.

with my full beard and unwillingness to shave it off, i found that a full face or even nasal mask leaked like a sieve. my "forever" mask seems to be a p10 nasal pillow which means i have to go through some hoops to keep my yap shut but it's worth it for me.

as always, this isn't for everybody. it sure would be simpler to just put on a ffm and go to sleep.

but not if it means me shaving!

people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

I’m just stating a point as to the overall market and how it treats new cpap patients without real investigation into the need for a full face mask. In a lot of cases it’s laziness in providing a catch all for the therapist or sleep tech, and then it ends up in the orders. Just using the forum’s own topic search engine there are plenty instances that show patients here have been given full face masks for no reason and never even saw a nasal mask. It’s a routine problem. I have friends that have gone through it.
