First off, I am a total Newbie at this, been on this machine for about 2 months now.
I didn't think I'd ever get used to wearing a mask (mouthbreather) until I tried the Autoset on APAP mode, what a relief, and it allowed me to wear the mask an average of 4 hours a night within about a week. I had tried an older ResMed S8 CPAP and just could not get used to that at all. I had a sleep clinic about 5 years ago (CPAP settings 5 - 12) and that didn't work out for me, so now I want to treat myself.
I love the APAP mode so far, it is so unobtrusive, I am able to fall asleep readily. My question concerns how the APAP works on this machine. It seems that around 4 - 5AM on a couple of occasions I woke up (calm and normal) and the machine did not seem to be supplying much pressure. It was not as if the machine was turned off and breathing was difficult, I was able to breathe OK, but did not seem to get that "assist" I always get when I first put the mask on and the machine was beginning to ramp. Is this a normal way for an APAP to operate? My settings are 7-13. Does it reduce pressure in the wee hours as breathing patterns change? Or does my machine need to go in for service? It does not indicate a problem in any other way that I can tell, no error codes or nothing unusual in the readout that would indicate a problem.
Thanks in advance for any and all advice,
Wade C.

You're just accustomed to the pressure by then.sdwest wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 11:07 pmIt seems that around 4 - 5AM on a couple of occasions I woke up (calm and normal) and the machine did not seem to be supplying much pressure. It reduces pressure whenever you're not having events, down to your set minimum.
Why don't you do what's listed in the first post on the forum, the one that says "NEWBIES, READ THIS BEFORE POSTING" and post some charts?

welcome to the zoo! not much to add to palerider's excellent answer.
however, see my sig for the link to the newbie thread. not sure if this is still the case, but have heard folks in the past say they don't see the topic in the announcement section.
good luck!

Re: ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset APAP mode slows down
I know terminology is very important so I'm wondering if this topic is related to EPR at all? I just made an update in my thread about how breathing is difficult once the exhale relief stops kicking in and I'm thinking it's either because EPR = Ramp Only or what you said, "It reduces pressure whenever you're not having events, down to your set minimum."palerider wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2020 12:05 amYou're just accustomed to the pressure by then.sdwest wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 11:07 pmIt seems that around 4 - 5AM on a couple of occasions I woke up (calm and normal) and the machine did not seem to be supplying much pressure. I find that whenever I wake up in the middle of the night. I need to stop and restart it in order for the exhale relief to kick back in again. Not sure if this is everyone's normal nightly routine as well.

Re: ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset APAP mode slows down
Well, having the machine go back to it's minimum pressure is a totally different thing compared to the exhale relief of EPR.droo_d wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 1:47 pmI know terminology is very important so I'm wondering if this topic is related to EPR at all? If your EPR is set to ramp only, and you want it all the time, just go into the settings change it to full time.
