Post by yoflow » Sat Jan 18, 2020 11:39 am

Hi everyone. My doctor of 6 years retired and the new doctor changed my diagnosis, without any study, from central apnea to obstructive apnea. i was shocked and concerned. have any of you had an experience like this? I have been using Resmed ASV, with Simplus mask.

Complain to him--his office staff needs discipline.

Did the new doctor look at any data from your machine?

Tell him you need a better understanding of how he made that determination. Bring his answers back here to see if he's blowing smoke. Did you have another study? Did he look at your machine data? He can't just arbitrarily decide your diagnosis is no longer valid. Any chance you were once on a med that caused the central apnea and you are no longer on that med?

He should not be changing the diagnosis without telling you why! His reason might be good, but he needs to tell you!

She did look at the data from the machine. She only said that the previous doctor did not give the previous machines a long enough trial. But I was having lots of apneas on them! I am 73 and my father died in his sleep at 76. I suspect he had sleep issues. We are fortunate to have these machines!
