Some corporations are promoting sleep testing as a means of reducing healthcare cost (and also increasing productivity and reducing absenteeism). Of course, if the company offers good retirement benefits, it will cost on that end (since more will live to retirement and retirees will live longer). In the case of Southern Co. (an Atlanta-based electric utility), over ⅓ of those tested were positive for Sleep Apnea. Of course, those who tested were "self-selecting" (meaning those are the ones who stepped forward when testing was offered).
What's not clear is how many of them were compliant with treatment, or whether they were tested for other sleep disorders.
