Humidity with heated hose enigma
Hello everyone, a big thank you to you all! This site has helped me alot! Ive only been on CPAP a few months, and I could use some advice about how to find the right humidity level and heated hose level to stop getting a stuffy nose on one side at night. So far with my experiments it’s an enigma to me lol. I wake with sinus pressure behind my eyes from a stuffy nose on whatever side I’m laying on. Its quite awful. Do I want the heated hose turned down low to get the humidity or do I turn it up? I have no clue what to do with the hose! Last night I had it on fixed 5 humidity and heated hose at 3, and my eye hurts still. I had one good morning with no eye pain when it was on adaptive humidity 4 and heated hose at 1, but haven’t been able to replicate it lol. Guess I will try that setting again tonight. I have a dreamstation auto with humidity tank and heated hose. I live in a place with high humidity, Crescent City CA on the coast just below the Oregon boarder, it has been somewhat cold lately, not too bad. I use a plain old electric heater in the bedroom at night, but keep it turned down as I’ve noticed my sinus pressure is worse with it’s turned up.I keep trying saline in my nose, doesn’t seem to do much. I keep experimenting with the humidity and heated hose levels, but so far can’t find the ones for me. My humidifier has adaptive and fixed settings 0-5, and heated hose 0-5. Adaptive setting doesn’t seem to do much probably cuz there’s good humidity here. Should I start at 1 humidity and work myself up? Should I go through adaptive then fixed settings? Should I turn the hose off, at 1, 3, or what? I really have no idea if the heated hose is good or bad for stuffy noses and sinus pressure behind my eyes!
I can only laugh at myself
Some explanation on how to figure this out is in order here lol. I will certainly appreciate any advice, and thank you all in advance! Angela.

Have you tried very low (or no) humidity for a couple of nights running? Sounds like you've given yourself a cold!

Re: Humidity with heated hose enigma
Thank you Julie! I will try that I guess! I’m not sick, but it’s definitely sinus pressure behind my eyes from a stuffy nose. I thought it was various other stuff myself, so I ruled them out one by one. I don’t know what to do with the heated tube, i guess I’ll just try it with no heat for now. Is there a certain order/process for finding the settings that work for me? A simple thing made hard lol

Re: Humidity with heated hose enigma
Everyone's sinuses are different.
On my Remed I started in the middle and went up one setting and down one setting.
Going lower than the middle makes my nose feel like I am in a desert.
Two settings up on humidity makes rain come out of my mask vents.
What works best for me is if I feel stuffy when I go to bed then one setting up on heat and humidity otherwise right in the middle on both.
