Mask Problems

Post by Ladyflower » Tue Dec 31, 2019 6:57 am

Okay, so I've had my ASV for 5 years now. I've used the Airfit P10 nasal pillow mask from day 1 and I love it. However, it makes it really hard to breath when I'm stuffed up. So, I finally broke down and got a full face mask and bought the Airfit F20. I tried it out last night and fell asleep without much problem. I woke a couple times, but I expected as much since it's something new. However, my husband told me this morning that I was snorning...a lot. He said I was quiet when on my back, but when I rolled to my side I would start snoring and not stop. Obviously the ASV auto adjusts the pressure, but I was still snoring. Could it be something as simple as the mask shifting and losing the seal when on my side? Would I just need to make the headgear tighter?

I started with a full face mask, F20. When I switched to nasal pillows, I was able to drop my min pressure by 5cm. This is because the ffm lower mask straps were pulling my lower jaw back, narrowing my airway.

So, the opposite may be better. Try loosening the headgear if possible. Obviously don't want leaks. Also, when changing between pillow to ffm, there is a mask type setting in the clinical menu that should be changed. On my Resmed Autoset, the choices are full face, nasal and pillow.

It could be possible that you need a bit more pressure with a ffm, like me.

I had used the Forma for about 7 years and just switched to the AirTouch F20 with memory foam cushion and I love it. You may want to try the AirTouch cushion in your mask. The cushions are interchangeable between the AirFit and the AirTouch.

I adjusted the setting on my machine to the full face mask. I adjusted the headgear. My husband said I was snoring all night again. I'm pretty sure the problem is when the pressure rises it pushes the silicone seal and the mask leaks. I noticed this a couple times while I was trying to fall asleep. I was able to adjust the mask while I was awake, but I was sleeping right through it. Squid13, do you think the memory foam cushion would do the same thing? Or does it hold up better against pressure?

Download OSCAR. and post some graphs, be sure to show the Snore and Leak traces.

If the Snores show up during leak periods, we'll know the seal is a probable cause.

Because you have an S9, be sure to write protect the SD Card when importing data into your computer.
