Feeling Worse after starting to Use CPAP
Feeling Worse after starting to Use CPAP
I started using my CPAP machine on November 22nd. It took me several weeks to get used to it. I have been able to use it consistently for an average of 6 hours a night for the past two weeks. I feel worse than I did before I started using it. Although I feel more alert mentally in the morning I am physically exhausted. I feel like I ran a marathon. It is increasing more difficult to focus at work. I feel shaky, nauseous, fatigued and have headaches in the morning. It takes hours before I start feeling better. I have checked my blood sugar and it is running high (I don't have diabetes. I just borrowed a blood sugar machine). If I eat and get moving I start to feel a little better, but it is a struggle to even get up and out the door. Any advise? Is this normal?
Re: Feeling Worse after starting to Use CPAP
It could be anything other than CPAP, but we can help you see if it IS CPAP. First we need you to fill out your information so we know what machine and mask you are using and if you happen to know your settings that's helpful, too. Then we can tell you how to download the data so that we can see what's going on.
Blood sugar usually follows how much you are sleeping. Is the CPAP interfering with your sleep or are you sleeping well with it? Once we see the data we will have a better idea.

Re: Feeling Worse after starting to Use CPAP
welcome to the zoo! it CAN take some time to get the full benefit from cpap. or it may be that you don't quite have your numbers dialed in yet.
please do as jan suggested. each of us is different in what machine and mask we use. we are also different as to just what we need to do to get ourselves on the right path.
also, see my link below in my sig regarding newbies. there is a lot of information here.
you can do this. you will have to take charge and make some changes. but with the help of the experts here, you'll get it whipped and start feeling good again..good luck!

Sometimes I feel really lucky because I’m almost at 2 weeks and consistently have no leaks or apneas and other than a little tired I’m doing well. What is your data saying?
