Tap water
I have cpap resmed auto sense 10. Can I use tap water in the humidifier? I ran out of distilled water. Should I boil it first? Is it safe?

Re: Tap water
Any water safe enough to drink can be used in the machine. Distilled water is recommended only to prevent the accumulation of mineral deposits in the water chamber. If you do get the mineral deposits, they can be removed by using a little vinegar or lemon juice.

Ok, I thought you should boil all water like you would in a neti pot?
Re: Tap water
Since you're not pouring the water in a cpap humidifier through your nose,andrenym00 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2019 10:11 pmOk, I thought you should boil all water like you would in a neti pot?

Re: Tap water
Using tap water from urban systems might be ok. We live in a rural area where water comes from individual wells that often have a lot of minerals. Distilled water costs 88 cent a gallon so we go that route.
Re: Tap water
And you're perfectly free to do so, should you choose, but you don't *have* to... which is the point. Some urban water systems offer pretty hard water.

Re: Tap water
I used to use filtered water in my humidifier and would get deposits in the tank then I switched to just regular tap water and no spots. Turns out that the tap waster had less minerals in it than the filtered water. See what works, as others have mentioned some acid will clean your tank out.
Re: Tap water
Nobody has mentioned that.OSUPatrick wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 2:54 amas others have mentioned some acid will clean your tank out.
Acid is what one uses to remove mineral deposits, typically in the form of vinegar, or citric acid.
