Mask Question

Post by jchilds582 » Mon Dec 23, 2019 7:12 pm

I have finally found a mask that seems to work except when I awake my muscles around my mouth are sore, if I Loosen the mask I get leaks. I am a mouth breather so nasal pillows not an option.
Any thoughts? Also I took a break for awhile as that I was frustrated and while I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea I haven't presented with symptoms, at least not sleeping during day does it ever correct itself? Nothing else has changed, not heavy so no weight loss or anything like that. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Look at Padacheek.com liners - they help with leaks and may also help with soreness (too tight really isn't good as the machine can't do its job well).

Liners don't really stop leaks, from my understanding but they do muffle them so it doesn't wake you up.

I am a daytime mouth breather so I figured I would need a full face mask but pugsy talked me into trying a nasal mask. I am so glad she did! Turns out with the mask on and air blowing in, i don't need to mouth breath so I don't. Lol. Its awesome. Some people do still mouth breath but prefer either taping or scrunchies than trying to get a full face make to stop leaking. :)

Yup, putting a piece of cloth between your face and the smooth silicone can't seal better... but it makes it more comfortable, and while it will increase the leak a little, compared to a perfect seal... since it stops the 'farting' and squealing, sometimes it results in a lower overall leak... and keeps diffuses that annoying "jet of air in the eyes" that happens sometimes...

For me, when I was wearing a FFM, mask liners were a true game changer.

And Julie is completely right, padacheek.com makes great liners.

As headgear gets old, it loses elasticity, meaning one tends to tighten it up to make a good seal.
Sadly, you need that spring--for fit AND comfort.
Headgear can be bought separate from most masks.
They do wear out, and a new headgear can make a huge difference.
