Feeling strangled

Post by Shaare » Mon Nov 04, 2019 11:29 am

Dear peers,

I've started slowly to have more obstruction. To the point now where I consistently wake up after three hours feeling strangled and out of breath. I've tried APAP, CPAP various humidity settings and pressure to no avail. Too much pressure and when my throat relaxes the air comes out of my mouth. Not enough pressure and well no dice either. I've booked a meeting with Dr. Holstrom who here in Vancouver provides a kind of mouthpiece that makes your lower jaw extends forward so as to help keep your airway open.

Anyone has recommendation on settings for the machine or experience with the mouthpiece?

Thank you very, very much,

Antoine

Post some charts.
Experts may come up with something. :)

Dear peers,

I've started slowly to have more obstruction.
please post some oscar charts for review. otherwise, we would just be guessing.

my guess would be you don't have your therapy optimized. further guess would be your minimum is too low.

without the facts that the charts would present, we won't really know.

oh and please post your charts in this thread rather than starting a new one.

thanks and good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Do a forum search on MAD device to learn more about your MD's idea... there are some drawbks for some people (which is not to say it might not work for you).

TMJ
Please be very careful.
I shared a cubicle with a colleague, whose moans of pain were heartbreaking.
Cpap, properly adjusted, is far easier.

I am not familiar with any prior discussions, so forgive me if I am being redundant. I will let others deal with your settings and will stick to my favorite self help tip. What is your sleep position? I have found side sleeping on a firm flat pillow helpful. Eliminates the pull of gravity on the jaw thus helping with mouth leaks. Also, if you sleep with the front of your face off the edge of the pillow to where the edge collapses slightly, your face will tilt slightly toward the mattress, helping keep your tongue out of your throat. These efforts in conjuction with mastering the technique of keeping your tongue suction sealed to the roof of your mouth will aid you in preventing mouth leaks.

Thank you everyone for your replies.
Here's the link to the data of my card.
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

I found that I had an airleak and strapping tighter helped.
Anyone's insight into the data is appreciated!

Thank you for your reply! That is exactly how I sleep! I have my arm under the pillow, and my jaw rests on the corner of the pillow supported by my wrist. I've watched a youtube video that tells of tongue exercises to help apnea? So much to learn!

Besides, that's not all the files from the SD card, If you do want to share them, you need to zip up the *entire* card.. not just some of the files.

My bad, I had selected everything and uploaded it to the dropbox. I'll read the newb thread I guess.

Next time, just make a zip file, that's easier for other people to use.. usually all that we need is a single screenshot of a few days, once in a very great while we'll request a full sd card zip so that we can examine multiple days easier, or zoom in and look at different parts of the night, or individual events.

Hi guys,

I have a lot of anxiety because my job is in jeopardy. This means chest pressure, and I wake up every two hours with heart aches.
Here's a picture of yesterday night.

I'm usually always feeling chest pressure even at rest.
I think most of it is psy so I'm going to ask for Xanax since I can't control it.
