Anyone make a chin strap?

Post by UMTerp » Thu Dec 05, 2019 10:35 am

I just had surgery and am sleeping in a recliner. This has caused a lot of mouth breathing which I don't normally have when I am sleeping in my bed. Since this is a short-term situation I would like to try to make a chin strap to use for the rest of the time I will need to sleep in the recliner (2 weeks maybe). Any suggestions would be welcome! Thanks in advance!

Why not use a foam neck collar instead?
Chin straps can be difficult to get used to--
and a neck collar does more, and more gently, too.!

Is that something I can get at a local pharmacy? I could have my DH get one.

And chin straps don't stop mouth breathing, because teeth aren't airtight.

Thank you! I just ordered one on amazon. I'll rig something up in the meantime using a travel neck pillow.

yes, you should be able to do that. it's usually in the same section as the canes and crutches and so forth.

eta:  i posted just as you were posting.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Never thought of that!
Could use a scarf to hold it on backwards.
