Need more water capacity

Post by Suenyo » Wed Nov 20, 2019 8:55 am

So, its time to buy a new CPAP machine. I have been using Respironics 60 series plain CPAP with Humidifier and heated hose. I run out of water in 5-6 hours and wake from dry throat. Let's not get into remedies for dry throat. I want to know which CPAP machine has a larger capacity humidifier. I have a script for a ResMed Airsense 10 but I'm worried. I haven't been able to find the capacity of the machine online and you know how manufacturers like to screw up a good machine by making it prettier. So I'm hoping you guys can tell me whether a ResMed series 9 or a 10 has more water capacity? And how much? Please?
Thank you.
Life is a dream…if I'm wearing my Resmed AirTouch F20 cushion and my Autosense 10 Autoset isn't being hijacked by some dung-eating state security troll.

If you go to the spec tab page of each machine you can find capacity
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... #specs-tab

Both the AirSense 10 and the S9 have the same capacity at 380 ml.

Your 60 series water chamber is 325 ml capacity

I have recently gone from S9 to Airsense 10 and found that the capacity is the same.

I keep a cheap hygrometer next to my Airsense, and note less water use when relative humidity is high.
If the humidity is very low, I add water at 7 or 8 hours--(or get my butt out of bed.)

Chunkyfrog, Pugsy and LSAT,
Thank you so much. That is exactly what I need to know. And you are even more helpful CF, I hope to be able to get to 8 hours. The only 8 hour nights I have had were in superhumid weather conditions with the windows open.

Make sure you get the Resmed Airsense 10 (that's just the model line) Autoset or Autoset for Her (preferably the 'for her')

PaleRider,

Why do you recommend the AirSense10 for HER? I am considering it because it is on sale $750 online, but I'm leaning towards the IntelliPAP 2 because of the Pulse Dose Humidification (and, BIOr Not), the clock. What do you think of that model?

I think that Resmed's auto treatment algorithm is the best in the business... I'd rather breathe better than be able to get rid of an alarm clock.

I use an external humidifier in series with the internal one for my machine. In 8 hours, it uses about 16 oz. of water. If rainout is an issue for you, it gets a little more complicated.

. . . get rid of an alarm clock.
The day I retired, I shut off the alarm on my alarm clock.
It only remains because it lights up, showing me what time it is.
Any time I need an alarm, I use the alarm function in my PHONE.
Sometimes I wonder why I did not do that earlier.
