Keep a bottle of a weakened version of either Propel or Gatorade by the bed.
You want just enuff of the mix to make it pH balanced but not overly sweet. Take just enuf to moisten your mouth then go back to sleep.
Using too much water from the humidifier can also be an indication of a leak.
l thought the Idea was to sleep through the night, not to be waken up by a dry mouth, and have to drink something.
Mine was so bad, the dry mouth would wake me up.
I never could get CPAP to work well, unless I taped my mouth shut. Real PITA Then I'd have to cough sometimes, hard to cough with your mouth taped.
CPAP doctor only passed the buck to the supply company, and they were not one bit of help either.
Very fed Up with the whole thing. Now I'm addicted to sleeping pills, and not Using The CPAP.
Have a new appointment with a new speep study doctor Dec 9th. Hope he is better than the last doctor.

A FFM will help prevent the degradation of therapy that could be caused by mouth leaks, or by inhaling through the mouth, when using a nasal mask. A FFM will not prevent mouth breathing and the subsequent dry mouth that could occur. Machine humidification may not have the capacity to overcome this dryness as it is designed to moisten the nasal passages and not the increased volume of the oral cavity.
Some people continue to use chin straps and even tape with a FFM to help prevent dry mouth.
Listen to PR.
Chin Strap.............LOL They (The DME) brought some piece of junk $2.00 chin strap out,
Then the 1st chin strap, was like an Ace bandage, had to wrap around your head, 2 or 3 times, sweating My Butt from it, off woke me up.

Not so much mis-lead by your doctor and DME, more like your inability to reason. by covering the mouth hole, air is blocked from exhausting the treatment pressure you need to expand your airway. You still need to breath thru your nose because that's what noses are designed for they filter the incoming air and add moisture to the air, so your lungs don't get like a paper sack.

I realize you like to argue, but until you find something better, we're done. Jim
You might try listening for a change.
Easier said than done when your sleeping.

anyways.

lots of good suggestions in this thread thus far.

i'd suggest OP go back and read them, perhaps a few times.

i use a full face mask and i've this problem also. i've had good luck with sleeping more on my side, which tends to help my jaw from drifting down and my mouth opening all night.

i've also started using a cervical collar that seems to help keep my mouth closed more, though i still do fight nasal congestion so i'm still trying to find the decongestant that works best for me, i've seasonal allergies.

i've also found that finding the right full face mask will help this issue. a few masks i've tried, no matter what...my mouth would drift open at night and the mask would be unsealed or i'd wake up with terrible dry mouth because my mouth would be wide open all night.

with the amara view and the airfit f20, i've found two masks that retain their seal all night and i tend to have far less dry mouth. my humidifier is usually on about 5-6 and i use a heated hose set to auto.

i've also used the xylomints and biotine at times when i was having a lot of issues with dry mouth.
Yes, I had the best luck with the amara view

nothing wrong, per se. a zombie thread is one where, in this case, it's two years old without any activity.

forum veterans don't care for such resurrected threads. you'd do better to start a thread of your own, brand new. this will help you in that it will attract said veterans.

good luck!

You did nothing wrong.
And you weren't the one to resurrect the zombie thread....someone else did.
There's nothing wrong with resurrecting a zombie thread (old thread that died a while ago) but a lot of time people you are talking to or about in old threads are no longer here. So don't be surprised if they don't respond.

So I was just alerting the forum members that might not notice the dates and might respond and answer a question when the person is long gone...and it's just a waste of everyone's time. There's a lot of forum members who hate to see zombie threads resurrected...annoys the hell out of them for some reason.

You are free to respond to whatever you want to respond to but a lot of the forum members don't even bother reading zombie threads.

Then again, it might be fun to annoy the zombie-phobes--once in a while, but not too often.
Keeps them on their toes . . .

OK, Thank You.
Hope I have better luck with my new sleep doctor.
I met him when I was playing the piano in the OVMC lobby.
He came down and told me it sounded great, and he video'd me and everything
was supposed to put it on the OVMC web site, but OVMC has since closed. :(
